I have the worst luck

General Chat

Q:

I'm having some family issues right now. I ended up with one of those phyco ones if you know what I mean.
I got rid of her and I got full custody of my daughter. coolio. Nice waste of 5 years.
I just bought a '06 nissan sentra specail edition. I've had it for 2 days. Some A-hole walking down the street decides that he wants to slash a single tire on two of my cars and one of the next door neighbors car.
I chased the Mo-Fo down the street and made a citizens arrest while my best friends wife called the cops. The cops show up and take things over.
I just can't beleive it. I am stunned. I mean Dam! At least my cat hasn't turned on me.
I have FULL coverage on the new car. Somehow I don't think I should report this to my insurance. I don't think a single tire is worth what I could end up paying. On the other hand I am now screwed trying to find that stinken tire. It's a Firestone something arother... It's just plain irritating bad luck.
It's not completely how it sounds, apparently the guy was very drunk and had hit 5 houses before hand. I wish I could take it out on his hide. You know he won't get what he deserves.

At least you got your daughter out of a potentially dangerous enviornment. Count you blessings on that issue, and keep her safe.

A:

agreed. count your blessings. buy a new tire - sounds like the cheapest/easiest solution.

New tire is less than the deductible & higher insurance premiums. Be glad he didn't key the paint. If those things happen a lot, consider a different part of the country. Sounds like you're in a city.
Anyone can drive a new car.
A:

if the guy was walking,he lives near you. pay him a visit.

Let's just say on 2 seperate occations people on her side of the family tried to break a restraining order and abduct my daughter. She is very safe with me and my best friend.
The guy somehow managed to hide the weapon he used. I think it's down at the end of the street somewhere. I'm going to go take a look today in the light.
That's the first citizens arrest I have ever had to make.
He doesn't live close to here. He was hitting houses all night from like 3 miles away in a line all the way here. That'll aid the cops building a case against him. He had no business over here at all. He was messed up on drugs and or drunk. I'm not sure which.
...We made sure he wasn't going to put up a fight. Both my best friend and I sleep next to our riffles...
I'm going to call the Nissan dealership today and see if they have 1 rim and tire. He scratched up my rim too. I'm glad he didn't get a chance to key it. I got pictures of al three cars.
I'm going to take him to court along with all the other victims. Maybe I'll get some restitution. I'm not counting on it.

You definitely can sue the bastard in small claims court.

Doubt he has an enormous amount to give up. Especially considering the damage he did to your property is probably the least severe out of everything he did. It's not worth the time/trouble to fight for the 45.00 tire, even if you made a dollar an hour at work.
Keep your head up and congrats on making the 'citizen's arrest', few would have the courage to do so.

I wish it was a 45 buck tire...
but no it was a 90buck tire and who knows how much to fix the scratches on the rim. Like you said though still probably not worth the time. I will though make sure the judge knows that he deserves more than a slap on the wrists.

i dont know the laws in your area, but get a judgement against him and some day if he has or gets a job have his wages garnishied and make him pay even if it takes a long time. its not like it was an accident and the jackass needs to be made accountable for inflicting damage on another.
do it legally but make him pay whether its 1.00 or 1000.00, --if you dont he wont learn nothin.

So im curious why you didnt beat the living sh** out of him while waiting for the cops to arrive? Nothing leaves a lasting impression like a good beating. Cops used to do beatings pretty well, but unfortunatly have pretty much stopped due to the video age.
A:

Because I have a daughter to think about. You have no idea how much I wanted to cripple his ass. My best friend was about to hit him the with the butt of his gun when the guy started to reach into his pockets. The cops show'd like 30 secs after I caught the guy though.
He burned some old lady's american flag that was hung from here porch.
One of the other victims came over yesterday and told us that we were his hero's. That was pretty cool.

first off im glade to hear that no one was hurt, and if I were you I would defently take him to court, he needs to learn and if he is convicted of anything at the very least he will have a officer come and pay him random visits and could catch him doing something that hes not supposted to
A:

I'd collect a list of damages from all the people and have all of them go after this guy....And yes, it's called restitution and yes they will garnish
wages (or future wages) to collect....

OEM tires sizes are usually pretty cheap, like under $40 a tire. You may have good luck trying Tire Rack or one of the mass dealers out there...
Local places retail a tire and mark it up like crazy. Many times a place like Tire Rack will sell you OEM Take-Off's for pennies on the dollar compared with new items (good place for that rim!)
I warrant the OEM cost is not $90, btw, it's rarely over $50 for a set of four on passenger cars!!!
Being Drunk shouldn't come into it, he needed a bullet in his head, and he would never reoffend.
But then again, I am told I'm harsh at times, so take my punishment pronouncements with a grain of salt. I forgive nothing a drunk does, it's a total cop out.
I've "citizen arrested" some guys---usually they are very upset that I did so, too! Some of them do foolish things, and I must defend myself. But remember, never do more than what you need to do to defend yourself. It helps when there is a smart witness who also knows the right things to say...

Unfortunately the tire is 71+ tax even from good old tirerack.
Nissan wants $131 for the tire and $365 for the rim. I think the Nismo bronze rims go for $285.
Totaling up everything, if I replace it from the dealer plus one other tire, it adds up to around $550.
thats:
1-195/55r16 firestone firehawk
1-genuine nissan factory 16" allow wheel
1-yokohama 388 for the spare that was on my 280ZX that he also put 5 holes in.
I could get the firehawk and the 388 for cheaper. I could even use the other spare nissan/datsun rims out back to replace the 388 and not think twice. The firehawk I can get for approx $90 total after I mount and ballance it myself for free. Then I can probably live with scratches on the rim.
"he needed a bullet in his head, and he would never reoffend." very true, but I'm probably not the one that needed to put it there. I like how you put it once. Shot on site and the family to be billed for the bullet and the officers time. It kinda goes along with "never do more than what you need to do to defend yourself" We were just waiting for him to pull out the knife...

hey, nto sure what state your in.. but if you press charges and the damage he did was greater than 400 bux in california, it can be considered a felony. we had our mailbox stoen not too long agao and this is what the sherrif told us. might want to give him that strike he so deserves.
