Spied: 2009 Corvette Stingray
650-hp boosted super-Vette is getting closer to reality.

From afar this Vette would appear to be just another Z06. Now rub your eyes and take a closer look, because these are the first spy shots of the highly anticipated, but yet unnamed super Corvette. The large hood bulge you see is rumored to be concealing a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, and packing upwards of 650 horsepower. This engine will likely use an integrated intake-manifold intercooler and should sprint from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3.4 seconds. And, with the addition of more carbon fiber in the body and expanded use of polycarbonates, this super Vette could weigh less than the current Z06.
GM’s Performance Center in Wixom, Michigan will likely produce the powerplant, but expect only about 1500–2000 copies annually. Initially called the Blue Devil, there has been much speculation in the past several months about the name for this super Z06. Recently we hear that GM has scrapped the Blue Devil name in favor of Corvette SS (we hope not), Z07, or even reviving the Stingray nameplate. Whatever the name may be, expect this beast to carry a sticker around the $100,000 mark, which is by far the cheapest way to get 650 hp in a production car.

Other than the hoodscoop, very nice.
Front end styling kinda looks like a Mclaren:
Edit: Not a bad thing though

Nice lines. I'd ditch the hood bulge and the air scoop between the head lamps. Maybe that guy who's looking for a black 350Z for his film should ask Chevrolet if he can use this car?
A:

The GTR, supra, and everything else is F*cked for sure now in all these VS threads.

I think that Vettes only continue to get worse. I liked the curviness of the 60's and 70's. Hence, why I own the C3. Just a matter of preference, though.
Allow me to demonstrate:
C1:
C2:
C3:
C4:
C5:
C6:
(I kinda like the C6, looks alright...)
Basically they have become fatter and less....sleek, as time went on, just like every other copycat car company.
My girlfriend's grandparents own a C5, and I wasn't impressed...they also have a C1 that her grandfather is restoring, THAT is a nice car.

the hood scoop on that test car will not be the one that is used in final production. they did a fast scoop to cover up the supercharger for testing.

A:

What the difference between this one and the current Z06 beside sticking a supercharger in it?
Even though it's fast, it still has cheap plastic interior, it still ride like a bumper car, AND the price is up.
The way I think, GM just keep making faster engines and stick plastic into a car and name it a corvette.

A:

Yeah.. they could fine tune the suspension, make the interior hand made and gorgeous, increase braking/steering feedback, up the quality, up the price.. wait.. yea that's a ferrari. GM is doing exactly what GM should be doing, sticking to doing what they do best and not getting ahead of themselves. People who want more than "cheap" performance should look elsewhere.

more than 10 years acura nzx cost ed 70.000 n the common men laughed at the "volunteers" who payed such amount of money, today, a fine example nzx 10 years + old can't be bought for less than 55 thousand.. a vette 10 + years old can match this resale value?, not even this "especial" vette will, I'm a Chevy guy but lack of reality is what separate me from a red neck..not to mention performance/craftsmanship etc etc, vette days are kind of over.no flames intended
Have you shared the left lane today?
