Injector question for turbo guys!

General Chat

Q:

Sup guys, was wondering what you guys were using injector wise for your turbo applications. Mainly guys over 350bhp to the wheels! I got my hands on a jim wolf kit that came with 420cc injectors. I want to make 400bhp to the wheels. I hoping these injectors will do the job!

Run the injectors at 4 BAR fuel pressure and you will be fine.

thanks for the quick response jeff. I got the kit used for $500, injectors, mass air, dizzy, harness, and computer. Im sending the injectors to rc to get cleaned and flow tested today!

Sound like nice injectors, are they barbed or o ring type? Are the injectors for a turbo application and if so what sort of engine management and intercooler are you running?
I didn't have a Clue??!!! Until I found Blue...

this was a friend who sold the kit to me cause he is doing a monster L-28 turbo motor! He actually destroked his motor to like 2.7, custom rods, pistons, haltech fuel management,1000cc injectors, custom intake, custome t series turbo and so much other stuff i cant think off. he is gunning for 700bhp to wheels!

Yea, I dont think he will get 700 HP to the wheels, on ANY L series Stock form head, ie. 2 valves, non crossflow. And BTW, 1000cc injectors, WONT idle, either, unless he has a varible fuel pressure system.

1_fast_Z is right, 550cc injectors are good way up into the big horsepower range (600-800?) at proper fuel pressure, there is no need for 1000cc. Just increasing the size doesn't buy you HP, and the idle will be horrible to tune.

B, its being very cafefuly planned and you guys will here about it and see it when it comes together. Hell i have my doubts about it my damn self but we have talked to mr. Shibora of escort racing and mr. wakita form blast racing and they assures us first off its possible and second its been done already in japan years ago!

Are you sending the injectors to this RC: http://www.rceng.com/ for cleaning? According to the website, they charge $25 per injector for a full service, is that a good price for injector cleaning? Are there any local places that can do the ultrasonic cleaning?
I might need to get my injectors cleaned too, so I am looking around for different options.

I am selling my system, and to my knowledge I made about the most power for that system. I have the MAF, the ECU with dual programs, one for pump fuel and the other for race fuel, I have the 420CC injectors and the fuel rail to go with the system.
Now, destroke the engine, why would you want to do that? What you will have is a high rev engine to get the power you want, and then you will play hell keeping it together, and dont even think of running a stock damper, or euro damper from Nismo, they will not last any length of time.
700bhp is possible, but 800bhp, keep dreaming, anit going to happen with that cylinder head, the valves are just not big enough to get that amount of power from the engine. 1000cc injectors, TOTAL, TOTAL OVERKILL TO THE EXTREME! that is over 50 percent more fuel then you will need. I am running 720cc injectors and it is more then sufficient for 600hp.
You should concern yourself with the torque figures and not be so concerned with the HP, the torque is what is going to move the car down the track. Then you will need a total redesign of the complete drive train to hold even 600hp and equilivant torque for sure. I recommend your friend rethink his design and get real data.

your like the 10th person to say such things jeff but you know some cats gotta learn the hard way. I will be perfectly happy with my 400 ponies and we will see just how long his motor holds up. should be fun to watch!
