What do you guys think, this kid I work with wants to race me in 04 Dodge diesel with a cold air intake and some sort of chip and full exhaust, oh its lifted with 22 inch rims also. He's one of thoughs " Cool kid who brought him" type if you get me. My Z is around a stage 3 TT boosting at 14 lbs. Some thoughts??

With the lift and 22 inch =wheels= it should be easy. I've also seen dodge deisels with slicks on the dualies run 10's with just upgraded turbo and bolt-ons.

Those trucks are putting down 600-700 ftlbs of torque to the rear wheels with 2-300hp. I'm pretty sure the Z would beat it, but why? Not even close to an equivalent match up. Oh, and people that get these diesel trucks to street race, need to get a car. Diesel trucks are meant to haul, pull, carry. Don't entertain the guy. He just doesn't deserve the attention.

With my personal experience with the Ram Cummins Diesels, you'll pull away from him from 0-45 because the gearing is more for getting a big load moving. Then he'll drop into overdrive and will run you down.

Go to the diesel forums. Some are pretty fast but fast is relative. I've been wanting one of the dodges for a while but can't decide what car to give up. Paying tax & ins on 4 now.

Don't underestimate diesel power. Do a search for diesel movies on streetfire.net There's some pretty amazing stuff out there including the video of the 7 second diesel dragster.

Man what's with all the "Will I beat this loser in my car" posts? I really cant make sense of it. You lose because you had to ask, the whole point of dragging is to just race and see. If you win, you win, if you dont, you dont. Either way you have your answer. You get no respect asking everyone first, because chances are if people said "You wouldnt even come close" then you wouldnt bother racing. So with that being said you'll only race cars you know you'll definately beat? What the hell is the point in that? Just my 2 cents...

The dyno a couple blocks from my house had a dyno day for diesel trucks earlier this year and there wasnt a one of them turbo diesels that was putting out under 500 rwhp. my son and i went to watch and i was amazed that a good deal of the trucks there were in the 600+ rwhp range and 900 ft/lbs torque and most of the guys were running 11 second and low 12's and a few in the 10's.

So having said that, I'm not going to race him. Or are you just mad because your 85 NA Z is not that fast. I wanted thoughts on the power of Dodge deisels comparing them to the Z32TT. Who's mad? I was just saying that if you ask if you'll win prior to racing then it's absolutely pointless. You can pretend that's not what you were asking though, sure. There are alot of these threads lately, and I think it's just silly that's all; no need email me having a teary.

I own a Dodge diesel and don't like people like the guy you are referring to. It sounds like he has more money than brains. With your car you should take him no problem. Those big wheels and the lift will slow him down, although I have heard of Dodge 4x4 diesels running high 11's in the quarter mile sans the lift. With his mods he is probably a high 14 at best.

Where do you work? Where did he wrap your car?
I work with mostly professionals but we do have entry level positions and high school kids start out. Some people never out grow the junior high stage.
These people get really suprised when pranks like that get them fired.
How old is "kid". In Texas 17 is an adult for criminal purposes and your co-worker needs a good warning, preferabally from your boss, about what behaviors are not tolerated by the company.
He may also be suprised (depends on laws of your State) what kinds of actions constitute assault, criminal mischief and a number of things he may have done.
Consult the D.A.'s office or Police Dept. Community service.
Don't race unless on a sanctioned track.
Don't get mad, get even - the right way. Some people can't stand it when you're right and legal.

Thanks, I understand your point however. You wanted to see how your beast would compare against his mechanically as is. Absolutely legit question to ask, but more often than not most people are here asking if they'll beat someone or not prior to actually racing when I just think it's sort of silly to ask and makes a true victory pointless.
With that being said, if your intention was not as stated above I also apologize. For the record by the looks of the mods you have I'd say your Z32 will tear him a new ******* :)
