Q:
Alcohol Involved in Fatal Accident
11/27/2005
State troopers say alcohol is to blame for an early morning accident that killed one man.
Troy Johnson, 21, of Naches failed to negotiate a curve on state route 410 eastbound. The vehicle rolled and Johnson was ejected. Troopers say he was only two miles away from his home. He died at the scene.
A guy at work told me that the local paper reported that the car was a 79 280zx. Was Troy a member here? Just curious.

how does one get "ejected" from a car? i thought that everyone saw the benefit of seat belts since princes di refuesed to wear one and got croaked?
so drunk and no seatbelt? i hope our members take driving a tad more seriously than that.
A:
the first thing i did was to replace our Datsun seat belts with racing harnesses. The stock seat belts are most likely gonna fail at some point in any kind of speed accident and you will get ejected. Ive seen accidents where peoplewere ejectedwith seat belts on a few times..
A:
briann,
What type (how many point) racing harness? Did you attach the shoulder points to an anchor directly behind you or did you attach them behind the seat in the floor?
God must love stupid people, he made SOOOOO many of them!
A:
i would use a 5/6 pouint harness, with racing seats and grade 8 nuts bolts.

i have a four point harness in right now. I didnt feel comfortable at all with just the lap belts. Especially how fast i drive. I attached mine to the strut bar for the shoulders, and the stock anchor points for the lap part.

They are 5 point harnesses (both seats as im not crazy enough to ride in it with no harness) and they go to a roll bar cross brace and the sub belt thru the floor. we are looking for racing seats but my son is 6'3", 280 lbs and im 6'2" 260 lbs and its hard to find seats that will fit us and be comfortable. The only ones i thin kso far that will work are the Corbeau VX2000.
we are going to do a cage this winter. safety comes first on this car since it is so lightweight and thin metal wise.

High 5 briann510!
That was one of the things I did as well and for the same reasoning. I have 6 points and even the same for the passenger seat.
Some people who know me, I will go on record and say. All jokeing aside..
I didn't use aluminum for seat brackets and aluminum hardware for the harnesses on the passenger seat.....
That has been an on going joke and may have kept some people out of my car. HAHAHAHHAHAAHH
SPEED IS MY DRUG OF CHOICE..LET ME DRIVE!

Yup, I got a great deal on the Schroth 4 points and bought a roll bar strictly for that reason. I would prefer to have the 5 points though, you have to be careful to tighten the lap belts first, or else you squish your guts if you get into a crash! Then again, 240z's fare about as well as a coke can in a crash anyways.
'73 Turbo, not much stock. Sold now... :-(

Just wacth out for the companies selling 2" wide belts. they arent legal at tracks.
A:
I guess the answer, senkyoshi, is no, Troy is not a member here.
A:
haha. Thanks 72n03Zs, I gathered that. Just thought I would check. It led to an interesting conversation though.

at least then they wouldn't come back every few months and jump in their latest mods to the crowd who they siad didn't matter at all....
The name rings no bells, and doubt if he was here that someone else would not know him in that region and post a death notice---though in the past reports of members deaths have been greatly exaggerated!
I digress...

Just a reminder, you should never have a harness in your car without a proper roll cage or roll bar. research "submarining" and you'll find out why. impact from the head/brain and down your spine because of a harness constricting your body is not a good thing. you'd just be causing more danger than preventing it.
just giving my safety .02
