Ok, am I the only one that really isn't disappointed that she got married?
I remember first seeing her when she became the new host on Powerblock (quite frankly, I liked Michelle Spaziano better). She looked fairly good up until I saw a picture of her on a website w/o makeup. That reminds me of the post on her a week or so ago where Blue (I think it was Blue) that posted all those girls that had a 'with makeup' and 'without makeup' before and after pics. Danica did not look anywhere near as good without the makeup. The best gauge of a woman's beauty is how she looks without makeup.

Who gives a rat crap....... Pretty obvious what she is all about, marketing. It's all about getting attention for the sponsor.....stick a chick behind the wheel and watch the TV time flow.
I get pretty annoyed when you hear all the hub bub about being the "first woman....." to do this or that Pooie! Racing is all about being first, period. Not the first red head, the first chick, the first from here or there.....it's about being FIRST!
It's pretty bad when the 4th place finisher gets more attention than the winner.

You still have to admit that if you walked in and she was on your bed waiting for you you would still go for it. Is she a super model, No. Is she still good enough to go to bed with, Yes. Plus think of the perks of dating someone like her. Perks like getting hands on with those cars.

what's good for danica is good for indycar, good for motorsports in general.
no one can deny she is more talented that very many drivers. whether she has a) the ability to win and b) any kind of long term staying power are other matters entirely. but that's beside the point. only a few dozen drivers havethe ability to compete at that level and she has amply demonstrated that she is on a level with the best of those.
but i get sick of people who knock her abilities. she does things in a car that none of us here could ever do.
that she's relatively cute is a bonus, and gets her some attention. nothing wrong with that at all.

Even though she's very pretty, she is extremely dry. I have never seen a more emotionless, camera shy host on any tv show. She probably just sits there in bed and doesn't do anything...that's annoying!

The annoying part is how many were passed over because they didn't have the marketing niche she has (was born with). How many drivers who deserve a chance based solely on their driving, and not how they look in heels and a bathing suit, did not get the chance because of her?? That's the rip off and the injustice.
pooie! Her chance came in the form of a tube of lipstick....the fact that she can drive has yet to be proven. Pure marketing......Jonny Come Lately media crap.... I'll be glad when the racing world sees that's all she is and gives someone with real ability a chance. A toxic by product of the corporate driven racing scene that is today.... Give me a guy who came up through the dirt tracks ranks, sleeping in a car trailer at the track, who gets his hands greasy working till wee hours of the morning trying to get a crap car in the show. That's the 'person' who will win you races.
Same thing is happening in NHRA with Erica Enders. Mega buck operation with the best of the best, and SHE gets the credit? There are thousands of guys with way more experience, and ability than her, but she got the ride based on the ability to market her. Good Lord, have we forgot about Lori Johns? The famous blonde bimbo who tried to sue another driver because of an on track accident......geez.

I haven't been able to watch a roundy round race in a long time without falling asleep :-/ I use to really enjoy it, but it just got boring to me. I fell asleep 5 laps into the Daytona 500, woke up 5 laps from the finish, and fell asleep again!
I would love to be wrong on this one Norm........and I hope I am. I'll serve that crow up to myself, with a side of 'told ya so' :-) LOL!!
I will hand it to her (Danica)......my sister has never watched a Indy 500 ever, but she did watch the one this year, and it was because there was a woman driver in the race. I'm sure that's not the only woman who sat down and watched her first race, so there's a positive.....I'm working on it :-)

since when is a 4th place considered and astonishing achievement? she's an above average driver with above average looks with above average opportunities. if she was outstanding in either category then their would be justification for the attention. yawn....
not placing in a race means not placing. the press sounds like cold war russian propaganda where russia would loose a competition and brag about comming in second place. no points for second, less so for 4th.

You have to give her credit for at least belting herself into a 200+ mph car and go head to head at speed. Not too many women I know would do that !!

She's a marketing gimmick running in a gimmicky racing series. Not that she doesn't have potential, but she's never won a race in any legitimate series to date.
And there haven't been 40 cars at Indy since, well, Tony George decided to "save" Open Wheel Formula Car racing back in '95. He's done such a great job, they'll be lucky to 25 cars this May.

i thought only 33 were on the track and only 16 actually finished? it's a 500 mile endurance race, right? if you don't wreck and the car holds together you will at least come in 16th.

So more than half the field was eliminated, either by their own fault or mechanical reasons, and she came in 4th. Sounds like the right stuff to me. She can avoid trouble, keep up a good pace, and has a sound mechanical program underneath her. Why do people still try to demean what she accomplished? I think she had a great rookie year. If I was her owner I would be very happy with her racing accomplishments alone, and I cant wait to watch next year.

If any female race car driver deserves credit for her skills, it's Shirley Muldowney.
I will have to agree with you collectively Ken. She may even be a good driver but any male driver with similar skills is not going to get as much attention as her, simply because of the fact they don't own a vagina.

Too bad she's taken, I wouldn't mind a hot girl who can drive a car at over 200MPH and control it the way she can. Yeah, leading the Indy is pretty good, but did you see her recovery from a spinout that would almost certainly have put any other driver out of the race? That is talent.
She is a marketing device right now, but I almost certainly guarantee she didn't choose that. She just happens to be a hot, capable, female race car driver... can you blame the media for wanting to take advantage of her?

Being new, I probably shouldn't open my mouth (I know I am asking for trouble!) but being a female in a "male" profession, I can say that it takes a lot of guts to play with the boys on their turf, with no excuses. Yes, she should be treated as any other driver, but in MY profession I have to be BETTER than the guys to get anyone's respect. That being said, if she wants to be respected as a DRIVER she probably shouldn't plaster herself over the front end of a car in a bikini...but that's her choice I guess.

it takes guts for anyone to play at that level, it does NOT take more guts for a girl than for a guy. respect comes with time, so we still have to wait and see if she's any better than the other people that also did not place at indy this year.
i'm not knocking her abilities, just the over-the-top press coverage by press people that proclaim that everyone should be treated equally regardless of sex(and then don't).
