So I rode in a car from the Gumball Rally...

And didn't even know it!
About a year ago I got a ride in the fastest car I'd ever been in--a 2000 Audi S4 with a turbo upgrade. It was absolutely insane speed. I was told 450AWHP but I believe it was more. There's a pic of it in post.
About a week after the ride the engine was pulled and it stayed that way until about a week ago, when the engineless chassis was hauled off on a flatbed. My understanding was that it had a turbo failure and they were having trouble getting Borg Warner to honor their warranty.
Today I was cruising the website of a local European car tuner and found an article called "GMP acquires APR Stage III Gumball Car." I checked it out, and sure enough, it's the same car! The engine pics are with the car in our shop. Pretty cool huh?

That is pretty cool. I'd love to be a good enough driver to participate in that someday.

I didn't ride in it, but I saw one of the '32 Fords used in American Grafitti. Attended the Rod Run in Lake Isabella a couple of years ago. Apparently, the roof of the chopped duece in the movie was too low to film inside the car, so they used an unchopped (but still blaring yellow) 32 for the 'inside' shots. That's the one I saw and talked to the owner. The dash was even signed by Paul LeMat "John Milner". If you watch the movie again (now that you know this), it's easy to see the big, full windows in the 'inside' shots, while the street footage shows a severe chopped top with little tiny windows.
