Depends on how close the concept is to the real deal. The Charger was a sweet concept but then they half assed it and used the magnum as its base so everybody thinks its too redneckish.

ALLLLLRIGHT! finally dodge is taking notes from the successful ford mustang

Yeah, I remember in '99 or so they came out with the first Dodge Charger concept it looked really mean, although a bit swoopy. I thought it had alot of potential with a better front end, observe:
The production charger is much less sleek, though still mean looking. I think it looks too bulky:
I really like that Challenger concept, but for some reason I don't see it making it to production in that exact form, looks a little too retro, might be mistaken for an '05 Mustang. If they build it though, I would definitely buy that before a Stang.
'73 Turbo, not much stock. Sold now... :-(
A:

yea iam afraid the clutchman is right see how they fuked up the charger the challenger might recieve the same fate

If the charger wasnt so bulky I'd like it a lot. I think its sweet looking, just too big.

i think i actually saw something like this a few months ago in chicago. i was rioding my bike and didn't get to check it out up close, it was running in the opposite direction, but i always wondered WTF it was.... maybe it was aprototype or something.
1976 280 Z coupe (California), 4 speed... performancewise stock as far as i know except a 1" front sway bar and a ABS steering coupler. but suspension is next.... --see it
A:

How do you like that for timing, Dodge holds off throughout the '90s on building the charger and the challenger when gas was inexpensive and puts them out when gas prices are hovering between $2 and $3 a gallon! There must be some real marketing geniuses at Chrysler or they are just plain stupid. Don't get me wrong I love seeing the charger and the challenger reborn, but they picked a bad time! The challenger looks awesome! The charger... needs a lot of work. I wish that the Roadrunner the GTX and the CUDA could join them, but Plymouth doesn't exist anymore.
A:

CHarger police cruisers? damnit, those crown vics are boats, not very maneuverable. A charger would only make a cop feel more like a badass and give him that much more confidence when chasing my a$$ down to take me to jail.

That Challenger prototype photo is damned sexy, I would never buy the Charger, but would consider that Cuda/Challenger.

i had 5 1970 dodge challengers back in the 70s 2-rt 440 six pack, 1 t/a 340 six pack, 1 se 383 , and one plain with a 383. the first one got the 440 replaced with a 1965 413 wedge( 395 hp stock, 750hp after some rebuilding) 4 spd T-10 trans with short pistol grip shifter, 410 dana locked rearend, a shaker hood scoop , aluminum slotted wheels with 14s on the front and 14 inch wide 15 inch mickey thompsons on the back. in 1976 it turned a 10 second flat 1/4 mile at bandmeres in denver. it could pull the front wheels 3 ft up hitting second gear. not bad for a car i drove to work every day. 1 1/2 years after getting it on the road a drunk driver t boned it a sent to the junk yard , i was never the same again(broken heart).
if they make a production model like the one pictured i may be tempted to get one, although i getting up there to drive like that again , but im not dead yet either, haha

The problems with the new charger is 2 doors too many, and they needed the keep the rear end of the concept with the front of the production. Do that and they would have no complaints from the enthusiast market. As far as the Challenger, I hope they build a production model, with little to no changes in body styling. I like it!

The Challenger concept car would be great if it went to production as is.
But when does that ever happen.
The charger, (which I loved the looks of '68 & '70 ones with the blacked out grille, no lights showing), was ok in concept but totally ugly and not worthy of the name in production styling.
Timeing - Good Greif! It feels like 1973 - gas is too high and muscle cars are going to be extinct. But then, if you save your money - you can buy bunches of used ones.
If we had only known or could afford it back in the late '70's.
Oh yeah, I just remembered, late '70's - Jimmy Carter, double digit inflation. Like always if you already had money - you could make money (21%) interest on savings CDs.
But working guys couldn't keep up with the inflation - 5% raise didn't cover 12% - 20% price hikes.
Sometimes history does repeat itself.
