I had one in high school and i would say it was quick not fast.I liked the car until it was hit, parked and totaled by a drunk driver.

I used to have a 91 CRX Si. Yes they are very fun to drive and very rev happy. If they were RWD, I'd probably still have one today. For as small as it is, it has AMPLE leg room. It also has really good visibility and is VERY reliable. If you are looking for an economical, sporty point A to point B car, those are good candidates.
God must love stupid people, he made SOOOOO many of them!
A:

driven one. its an 1800 lb go-kart that makes you say "eh... are we there yet?"
...
A:

you could probably somehow convert it to RWD... that'd be an interesting (albeit somewhat pointless, except for the uniquness factor) project

mike240 - Yup - I blew past Vultee on Briley PKWY last Friday. Be careful up there. I got my 1st ticket in the Z this month on the bridge over Murfreesboro Rd.. right before you get to the Shell. 5-0 is shooting Eastbound traffic at the bridge. They got me for 62 in a 45 ($50). Not to bad but still. See you around!

Datto,
I'm going to hijack your thread for a second and then give it back.
Zazupilot,
Were you driving on Vultee Blvd yesterday or the day before? I could have sworn I saw the same Z you were driving the day we talked at the Shell station on Briley Pkwy.
Ok, sorry. Back to the thread. Haha.

i owned a '87 HF 1.5L 5spd and i must say that it was fun but wasn't geared for sporty driving. 1st gear seemed long. great gas mileage. i put that poor car through hell. in the mud, yanking on the e-brake every chance i got, jumping railroad tracks, high speed off roading(i thought i was a rally driver on occasion), etc. they are great in the snow too(less than a foot).
i did some delivery work in a '87 SI model with 1.8L and a close ratio 5 speed and that car would smoke the tires off of it. it handled good and was a totally different driving car from the HF model. much more fun than the HF model.
A:

I had an '88 CRX Si & loved it. It was fairly quick & handled well. With it being an Si I still got close to 40 mpg doing 70 mph on the interstate back & forth from school. I still look for one every once in a while in the classifieds. It's tough to find an Si these days that are stock & unmolested.
A:

i had a'90 si.. great car, extremely fun and easy to drive, and great MPG.. about as quick as a stock 280z

My wife had a 91 CRX SI and I loved the little car for around town and backroad driving, but I found it a little tiresome for long trips. Never had one problem with it, but then again it only had 60,000 miles on it when we sold it after our first child was born.

i have a heavily modified 90 SI, and i had an 87 SI, both are sporty cars in stock form, although the second gen is somewhat twitchy and is prone to lift throttle oversteer in the most inopportune moments.
i am getting rid of the 90 now as it became very impractical, all with the 100 octane fuel requirements 10MPG mileage and bone jarring ride. stock form they are very fun and reliable and look very nice even for their age.
side by side the first gen has more spirit of the true sports car then the second gen. you feel very intune with the car. the SI version is also pretty quick.

an h22 swap into one is cool...

I wanted one in High School for a while, but I ended up getting the Z instead as a fun car. Now I'm looking at them again, just for the sake of mileage!

I had an 84 & 91,They are good little cars but I'd rather have one of my Z's anyday.
A:

I loved my 88 CRX Si. Easy to operate, reliable motor, great mileage, could burn the tread off the tires with no problem whatsoever, and had sweet ass Recaro seats.

I remember a waile ageo i raced one in my Camaro, not only was the driver a fat ass he had two other fat asses with him i was driving along and he pulled up next to me and reved his engine and then so did i but stright off the bat you could tell his car was heavley moded and also had an engine swap well we took off at a green light at the start i was ahead and the at about 25 mph all i hear is his engine scream and then he started to pull away from me and keep in mind he has 3 people in his car and its just me in mine well after he pulled about 1 to 1 1/2 cars away he slowed down to tell me how slow my car was so i asked him how much money have you put in to your car and he answerd $10,000 so i said i just picked up my 90 RS Camaro for $1,500 so let me put $10,000 in to my car and see what it can do. lol

Datto, shame on you for demeaning any 240/260/280/280ZX by racing a toy. Of course they fart down the road, they have Sunbeam razor engines with cotton mufflers. Now, stop wasting Z gas and status by even looking at them. WILL POWER MAN!!!!!

Ok then sence he swaped his motor, for $7,500 there a kit to make mine a LS1 T56 now I highly dout he would be able to touch that. The only point I am trying to make is why do people put so much in to hondas to make them as fast as what i got no offence but look at what you said my friends 2000 civic beat a 1990 V8 Camaro well no **** thats 10 year difference tell your friend to race a 2000 V8 Camaro and see what happens it would honestly be rape. Know let me take my stock 1990 Camaro 305 and race any stock 1990 honda and that would also be rape.
Thats all i have to say. Honda makes a nice family car they should just stick to that.

Supposedly the 88 CRX HF is rated at 50mpg city, and 56mpg highway... I've been looking for one for a while, but they're tough to find. Even if it doesn't really get 50+ mpg, its gotta be in the mid 40s. Sounds good to me, with these gas prices.

don't need 10K under the hood to make one fast. a simple turbo kit on a stock engine will take the car into 13s or even 12s with proper engine management.

My wife just bought an 87 SI from some retired folks. The car is absolutely perfect. I recommend buying from old people! BTW we had to get it because she totaled her 88 DX. I really like driving them. They are quick, but the front wheel drive can get a little squirrelly(sp.?)
