I was in the Middle East in 1992 & 1995. The taxi drivers in areas like Cairo and Dubai are awesome masters of the automobile. The first thing I noticed is that there are no mirrors on the cars, I found out later why. These guys drive 4 door sedans at top speed, making 5 to 6 lanes where only 3 exist. I asked one of the drivers how he learned to drive this way and he told me to think of the car as moving like a serpent.
Riding in the back seat of a cheaply made Russian sedan at 90 mph with a driver who speaks little English, on packed 3rd world city streets will definitely let you know if you blood is pumping thru your veins.
