yea the lift is out side but is coverd by a large car port, and those are older pics, the only thing left to do is the wiring
A:

I think your friend needs to donate that to the dragon300zx needs more toys charity.

Sweet...i think your friend will be happy with the results...i just finished helping a buddy with his RB25DET swap into an S13 a few weeks ago...its awesome.

is your friends complete because he still has a few questions that he might be able to answer for him, he and another guy that he meet over the net that did the same swap are making a correct wiring diagram to post up on alot of fourms to help with future rb25 into 240s
A:

His car is complete and driving. There are still some issues that need to be worked out such as the hood not closing, gauges not working etc. That wiring diagram would be a great help to the people doing this in the future. The info is out there to make the wiring work but it seems to be very muddled and there are lots of people on the forums and such who wont swap and tell. My buddy sent his wiring away to get it done by "professionals" at a rather hefty cost (if you ask my cheap ass anyways) and none of the gauges work, the knock sensor cant be utilized etc. He got his engine and transmission mounts from the same place and neither of us were too impressed by them...fitting the engine and tranny was a big pain, one of the rubber isolators broke (very flimsy design IMO) and the tranny mount is bent from usage and looks like it might break as well.
Its a really cool swap, however, more of the info needs to be made common knowledge like it is in the Z world so it can be cheaper and easier to DIY. Good luck to your buddy!

I still think the sr20 is a better swap for the s13,14,etc. I know the RBs have a "cool factor" that comes with them, but the sr is just as capable and is a LOT cheaper and a much easier conversion.
All that said...I still would like to try the rb conversion in my 72.

well hes got help and someone making the parts, and he used solid motor mounts with the stock r33 crossmember.
and the sr20 is not capible of getting 800hp and can't get 800hp when it's built the only way that your going to get 600hp out of the sr is to builld the crap out of it as for the rb you can get 600hp with even the stock head gasket

The endless project continues

Ya i agree...the SR is lighter and a very capable engine but i spose if you are trying to make 800 hp then the RB is the better bet...then again if your spending all the money to build a 240sx with 800hp and (i would hope) the chassis to handle it, why not just build up a skyline.
My buddy was gonna do an SR swap but he found an S13 shell and an R33 GTS-T front clip locally for a really good price...cheaper than an SR would have been, so it was sort of a no brainer...i think the cool factor might have had something to do with it too ; )
