Q:

i have this 1983 HD xr1000 that has been in my family since it was bought from the dealer, my uncle rebuilt the bottom end on it in 93 and something else went wrong and it sat, now its in my possesion and im wondering if i should fix it or sell it...to my experience with it its either a push rod or the #2 crank, but i just need some help deciding, keep in mind that have a extremely low budget of $500.

I'd sell if your that low budget,HD means hundreds of dollars. Or just keep it for a while until you come up with the cash to fix it :)

what is your price??

$1000 55k miles on the everything but the bottom end, i was told before my father died that it was a push rod wich could be forged for $300, my uncle told me that it was the #2 con rod because that went out once before, but everything is there, nice and stock. if i can get some help later on i will pull the motor, pull the heads and check everything, those are the only problems i know of, the bike starts, but has a loud knock that goes about twice as fast as RPM's..

Keep it and fix it up as you get the money. HD's always go up in value the older they get. Although they're harder to find parts for, any good dealer nearby should be able to help. The parts and service techs at our dealership here have been real good about finding anything we want, new or old.
