Here in Crossville Tn still hanging in at $2.03 ( 2 bucks even if you use a Wal-Mart card). Had a beautiful fall day today and drove the Z up to East Tn, filled up for $1.96 outside of Knoxville.
Like someone else said, it is hard to believe we think this is cheap......

Here in southern Louisiana the prices can change drastically within a 15-mile radius. It's insane how some places are trying to take advantage of things. It's bad enough that MANY people lost everything and have to live from hand to mouth. They also have to worry about this as well. Prices are still close to 3 bucks in some areas and others (In the same city area) are closer to 2 bucks.
Is it supply and demand or price gouging?

S.W. Houston - 2 CITGO stations went up from $1.89 for reg 87 to $1.95 2 days ago.
A Murphy Sta. is now $1.99 but 3 cents off that with gas card.
Stable prices so far but I'm worried about CITGO going back up.
Predictions are gas reaches lowest price around Thanksgiving and creeps up during winter as more heating oil is demanded.
But what do I know? - I'm still riding the bus - paying off summer electric bill.

I think im paying about $2.50 for u/l premium at Chevron/Unocal. I pay attention to the price filling my cars up that take u/l regular ($2.32), but dont really look at the prices for my cars that take the premium.
i guess im just used to buying racing gas for my one car at 4.40/gallon so i really never pay attention to the premium gas prices and just figure they are high.

We've been lulled into accepting $2.00 gal as OK. It's $1.99 just south of Knoxville, TN.. Happens everytime gasoline jumps up. It settles back down, but never at or near the price it was prior to the escalation. Congress attacking the oil industry is absurd. Even if they do squeeze money out of the oil companies in the name of the common people we never see it. The government keeps it and spends it for us. From what I understand the oil company profits are about 7-9 cents a gallon, before costs. The average taxes (state,fed,local) on a gal are around 30-45 cents a gallon depending on the state. Now who's profitting?

Mario, I know that in maricopa county we use a special blend of gasoline that is nobody else uses. Only a few refineries actually make the blend of gas we use and therefore when "shortages" arise, we get screwed.

New York state has the highest taxes on gasoline in the country. I lived there for nearly 42 Years. I moved last year because I was tired of having my pocket picked. Between gas, property, sales and income taxes and "surcharges" that they refuse to call taxes, I'd had enough.

I hate the oil companies, all they hope for is a disaster or some reason to raise the price. Then for a couple months REAM THE HELL out of everyone. The relatively small amount out of 1 persons pocket gets multiplied by the REAM FACTOR!
I do have a success story though, by taking public transit (eww) I only had to drive once a week. In the time it took to get gas prices back to normal in my area I had only filled up 3 times total with expensive gas.
Adding to that, my government (Alberta) is giving everyone $400 rebate for christmas. So $400 - 3 tanks of gas = TRIUMPH OVER OIL COMPANIES!

Going south in Delaware off 95 or 295, get gas by the freeway, it's cheaper than down south, one station was $1.99, the rest were 2.10 to 2.19, and it went up the further south you went until about Smyrna.

Cheapest I've paid in recent times was $1.025 AU per litre...
or about $2.88 US per gallon...
and that's $0.08 cheaper than anywhere in Australia thanks to the local govt's fuel subsidy...

They're not "giving" you $400 for Christmas (oops, don't want to offend anyone, it's Holiday Season). If you pay taxes they're just giving you some of YOUR money back, which is certainly a good thing. If you don't pay any or very little in taxes, they're taking it from someone who earned it & giving it to you. That's plunder in my book & I get offended by that. Or you could call it stealing, whichever term you prefer.

payed $1.98 at a mobile station in St Paul, premium 92 was 2.08 at the same station. was 1.99 and 2.14 respectively in Fargo, ND this last weekend.
Curiously enough, the mobile station is the cheapest I have found in Minneapolis/St. Paul, AND they also have a petition in the store on which they are collecting signatures.
