Monza residents complain about track noise

General Chat

Q:

After hearing complains from local residents, an Italian court ordered Formula One cars to run with exhaust silencers if the sport is to continue there.
I always thought that the Monza circuit was built in the 1920's and existed far before any houses were built around there.
The residents also sited environmental issues in their arguement . . .
Hmmm, notice that the word "mental" is part of "environmental"
The Monza Circuit Council are going to appeal the ruling. Hopefully, it is overturned and those mentalists move out.

Same kind of morons that move next to an airport then start complaining about the plane noise. Well gee whiz, I wonder why your house was so low priced.
Idiots arent born that way....they learn it....

I wonder what was going through the courts mind when they decided to award the case to the residents? I would have told them to GTF out of my court. How, pray tell, do judges and jurys let themselves get convinced that stuff like that is right?
The residents KNEW there was a f#@$ing race track there before they bought their house. Just like you said briann, if you knowingly buy a house close to an airport, you lose your right to complain about the noise.
God must love stupid people, he made SOOOOO many of them!

tax money?
i would bet that a lot more money is paid into monza by home owners than from the track. same with airports when you get 10,000 homeowners complaining about runway noise.
maybe it's just money talking? just guessing.
A:

Yeah, sort of like the folks who move out the country next to a farm and then complain about the smell.

Same thing happened out here to Green Valley Race City...... It was there for years before they started building houses. Sure enough the 'new' residents pitched a bitch and got the track closed down.

i have an airport runway 300 yrds from my house.the Blue Angels come every year...and every year for 3-4 days,it sounds like a war zone here.but i dont complain.if i did have complaints,i wouldnt have moved here.
12 yrs ago,my brother and i lived in this house.we both worked 3rd shift.i got up on day at noon.i went into the kitchen to fix myself a bowl of cereal.i put the bowl of cereal on the counter, and i turned to the fridge to get the milk.
i notice the dog cower down and try to put his nails into the hardwood floor.that struck me as odd.i then turn to the bowl of cereal and the cereal started jumping out the bowl.then the bowl jumped off the counter.then all the cabinets opened and all the food and dishes came flying out.and then it felt as if the house started jumping up and down.my brother was fast asleep until he got flung out of the bed.
i ran outside and all my neighbors were coming outside looking around.we all thought that it was an earthquake. but the Airport Authority told us that it was a sonic boom.they also paid for all the repairs to the house,no questions asked.
anyways, those people should consider themselves fortunate that they have F1 in their area.can you imagine the revenue an F1 even brings in?

The Formula 1 race weekend at Monza HAS to bring in more revenue to the local area than the other 360 or so days of the year combined. Those residents are absolutely, positively insane to lobby for something that could possibly reduce attendance and interest in thier #1 cash cow.

Not surprising.. that’s the Western European mentality. I have always been amazed at how little money and progress meant to them compared to the quality of a simple life.
I once asked a "blue collar" guy in France what he would do if he won the lottery.. he said "I dunno.. probably bury the money under my house. What do I need a lot of money for anyway?" I asked this question many times after that to many different people and got similar results most of the time.
They just don’t think like us in terms of capital gains and economic growth.

"France..They just don’t think like us in terms of capital gains and economic growth"
lol.
you asked the wrong person.
i thought that the current chaos in france was do to the lack of economic opportunities.
don't tell me that they don't think in terms of capital gains when they readily dealt with saddam hussein for investments instead of the quality of simple human lives.

I moved into a neighborhood five years ago & I complain all of the time about the 40 year old trailer parks that are about three miles away. All of those damn kittens are about to drive me up the wall.
I can't go to Publix without some white trash in front of me buying beer & cigarettes with cash & food with their EBT (welfare) ATM cards. I pray for a tornado to go through there & clean it out that way my area can have some good development. They're dragging my property value down! If a tornado comes it'll shoot straight for the trailer park since tornadoes are naturally drawn there. Maybe then they'll move across town by the railroad tracks where they belong!
A:

dkd, if you knew the trailer parks where there before you bought your house, why'd you buy it then?

nitrox, it's a sarcastic remark in light of the absurd remarks by people who move near a landfill then complain when it stinks & their property value doesn't go up. But I still keep my distance from those types of people when possible, my family included.
