Well, it happens to most northerners, but the time has come that the car must be put away. I get a winter beater TOMORROW, snow begins TOMORROW...talk about cutting it close, eh? Anyway, on deck to be worked on this winter is: Steering Rack (Replace), Rustproofing of the undercarriage, Tune the carburetor, change gear oil, differential oil, fix the kinks in the stereo system, and polish the valve cover. Also, i'm hoping to salvage my current paint job..it's not so bad but there are a few places that need touch-ups, not to mention the fact that it was never clear-coated. Hopefully my beater makes it, it cost me $250 from a lincoln/mercury dealership and can be started without a key. You do the math. Just thought i'd share with you guys.

Don't you think it deserves the winter off?

If the car is to be stored winteers,then why rust proof it?
Rust proofing now is actually worse than new as it will trap any rust &moisture that currently exists.

Parked mine last month, but I have driven it a few times since then. bought a '93 eagle talon for my winter beater, got it cheap but I had to spend a little more than I wanted to to get it going.

I agree that winters are tough on us Z enthusiasts, but there's also the great feeling associated with taking the car out again in the spring!!
I hope to get a couple more Z rides in over the next few weeks before I put her away for the winter........I also wish I had a heated garage to work over the winter. My garage is partially in the basement, so it is humid and cold in the winter. The Z spends the winter in a hermetically sealed bag, so I'm not even able to work on it while it is stored.

It is that time now! I dropped insurance today and will begin the winter projects on the car. It's just not worth the chance of getting in a accident with it or start the rust coming. Maybe we'll have a short winter!

I hope they don't put down salt, Roger!
It started snowing here this afternoon. I hope my Ranger has enough tread left this winter. I should have been more well behaved this summer.
Out with the Z, in with the sandbags. :(

WOW! What a ride home from Kentwood! Peeps driving too slow or too fast! The 350Z handled like hockey puck on ice! THose big fat Potenzas are dangerous! You're right about the salt Sean! They just may salt tonight 'cause this stuff is going to freeze on oily summer roads. But, I got her home safe and parked. It's the truck till spring! The wifey took the full coverage (still have comp) off the Z today and put insurance on the truck. And Aaron is in the woods hunting down Bambie! LOL

I cant imagine living somewhere where the weather holds your Z hostage for 6 months every year :( That must truely suck hehe.

It snowed in minnesota on tues. was hoping for one more spin in the Z. Oh well.
The good new is that the lakes are starting to freeze and it will be time to sailing on the iceboat. Now you want to talk about accelleration, speed and cornering. You just wish your tricked out Z could perform like the ice boat. {for those of you in California w/o a clew as to what an ice boat is look up iceboating.net}
