You never see subjects with " 56K Beware" for a title?
That is to let people know that you loaded some large images and it will take some time to open the whole page! Which is no big deal if you use advanced options and control what is going on...
Enable Auto Image Resizing... Will reduce the size to fit the screen and you can always put it back and page up and down to see it.
Show Image Place holders... Will save the space needed to show the image, this way if your slow and go past them while reading the page does not keep jumping around when the next Image loads.
Show Picture... Not set, no show... Enough said.
Smart Image Dithering... Is how the Image loads...
If you have DSL or Cable connections the defaults work just fine, People on dial-up with a 56K connections and use a free ISP like EV1, Blue Light and others might have a 18 to 20K connection because of all the overhead BS they make you live with until you pay for there service...
It's like going a full T3 at work to a DSL connection at home... You would be saying "This slow POS" ROTFLMAO
It all about SPEED...
