An artistic challenge! Give it a shot!

General Chat

Q:

In the recent thread on the info about , I see that a lot of you don't like the design they are proposing for the concept. I also see that a lot of you don't even like the current design; myself being one of them.
I propose a challenge! Everyone has their own opinion of what the new (and present) Z should look like, and I would like to see it. Even if you're not a gifted artist, give it a shot, put what you think it should look like in your mind on paper...
I for one, am going to attempt to draw my own concept of what I would like to see. I'm not the greatest drawer, and it will probably take me a few days to get it down, but I'll post it here when I'm done with it for everyone to see, and critique...
Give it a shot, I wanna see the Z you want it to be!

me not much of an artist either but, it would just be flat out spectacular if they made it look like this:
73' 240z: F54 4.2L, OS Giken LY DOHC Crossflow head, 17:3comp.ratio, N33, Tripple SU's, T10 Hybrid Draw-Through TT @ 47pds, Roots&Centrifugal Type supercharger, 3-2-1 headers, Centerforce 4 clutch, 6oz flywheel, R300 differential, Super-Hicas
A:

like the front, but the rear looks like an Opel GT

I can't draw either - but I know this has been tried before and I'd like to see more participation.
I'd like to see cars get away from the jelly bean/euro egg look and forget the fat rounded rearends.
But I'm old school and like long hoods, wedge shape clean lines.
How about a Jaguar 120 look - or variation?

here is a pic i made for my dad when i heard about the nissan/gm deal that is now dead. I don't want to see the Z like this but i had to rub it in my dads face some cause he is a die hard chevy guy. Just thought i should share it with you guys maybe you'll like it more than he did!
Soon to be 86 NA to Turbo

A:

My vote goes to datto's pic, with a little tweaking of the rear but not much. We have to remember these cars are "modern" so some degree of modern styling has to go into it. Which kind of sucks.
1972 240z w/L28, tokico shocks and springs, and a 5 speed waiting. Also running high performance ultra mega blinker fluid, that's at least an extra 50hp to the wheels.
1987 Toyota Supra Turbo 5-speed. Belongs to me until my friend get's back from Iraq.
A:

keep an old school outside appearance as in datto pic and moderize the interior and the engine. maybe make a convertable - hardtop option, you know like both tops with the same car. and definitly a little change in your rear end look , the first thing i thought of was an opel gt also. but it really shows artistic talent- have you been coping those draw me pics in the back of comic books? haha!!

opel tried to make a cheaper " corvette look" car. however i too like the old opel gt. i know a guy here that has one that he restored to show condition and it really looks good.

Datto's picture is awesome, the rear remind me personally of a lotus elise, however I like it. That'd be an awesome Z car!

Didn't come out to how I had pictured it, but then again you can't expect too much after 7 minutes in paintbrush. At least it gives you an idea...
Needs to be a bit smaller and mounted on straight.
BTW, I think the Opel ass looks great on the sketch...I'm still weary of the original artist, though. I think Datto would've at least showed off when he finished the sketch however long ago it was, before he posted it in this thread. But anyways, it still looks awesome

Well... I tried, and tried, but everything I came up with just looked like the original Z. I personally like the retro car trend going on right now, so I tried to do just that with the original Z... I just couldn't seem to modernize it... Maybe because it was so far ahead of its time? hahah! Well, I'll keep trying here and there, and maybe one day I will come up with something decent, and I'll post it.
