I had just got my z when a car pulled infront of me and i ran into him I had not put insurence on it as I was driving it home... I do have full coverage on my other z. Shouldnt my insurence company cover a car i just bought ? I have state farm ?

If he pulled in front of you then you go after HIS insurance company.
anyway, you should beautomatically covered for any newcar bought under your existing policy, but I believe that rule is changing this next year.

on newly purchased added cars. Call your claim in IMMEDIATELY!! TODAY!!
DO IT NOW!! Even if you think the other guy will end up paying. Let your insurer do the work of chasing down his company for you. You won't be sorry.

In the Ins. Biz.... so here is the drill.....
depending on the state you live in you have generally 15-30 days to add or remove a vehicle to your auto liability policy.
so when you buy a new 350Z and it gets in an accident that day, just call your insurance carrier/agent and tell them the story....you just bought the car and where going to add it to your existing policy when this idiot caused this accident.
but as far as making an insurance claim, it is always best to make a claim with your OWN insurance carrier....the reason being that they are contractually obligated (they took your insurance premium $$$) to handle your claim right then, right there...even put you in a rental, even some insurance carriers offer a lifetime warranty (as long as you own the car) on the repair work if you go to their preferred repair facility.
If you make a claim against the other insurance carrier....ha... you are left at their disposal...if the other guy starts claiming it is your fault...you will be the proud owner of damaged 350Z and will have to wait for your claim that is now in dispute to be resolved.... that can take time.. time away from your 350z.

i know that in the state of alabama it is very hard to win if you hit someone from behind. i hope you have an accident report stating it is his fault. basically because ya know you are supposed to be looking ahead and slowing down accordingly, blah blah, i got screwed by it one time when i was 18, next time just hit the gas instead of the brake and make them wish they didn't try that crap.

hmmm, well I did get the ticket ... I told them what happend ... I was in the far left lane passing when the guy in the middle lane got over about 10 feet infront of me I hit the brakes and slid into him... the breaks on the no z are very bad .. if I was driving my 350 it would not have been a prob.. but the 260 just couldnt do it... me and my freind have been working on this car for 6 years and I finally got it back from him ... Its completly done corvette ls1 swap viper 6 speed you name it... I already have the car stripped and a new body waiting for the car... I am pretty shure my insurence covers any new car I buy for 30 days...

I have State Farm also. Yes, you're covered. When you buy a car, your current insurance policy extends to cover your newly acquired car but only for a few days. I think you have to notify them within five days after you bought the car. It was a long time ago that I asked my agent the question of how many days that you have and it might have changed since then.

Let's see...working on it for 6 years & no brakes? Passing & hitting someone from behind?? You have coverage in TN for 7 days. Used to be 30 days. It varies by state. You're at fault if you hit someone from behind especially if driving an unsafe vehicle. You may get a different answer if he swerved into you but that depends on the judge/jury whatever. Insurance isn't going to pay much on your car if you have it stripped. You'll be fortunate if they fix the other person's car.
Anyone can drive a new car.

he didn't say no brakes. he said the brakes are very bad. even with brakes in good shape on a 260 they wouldn't compare to the brakes of a 350.

When I buy a new car I call up my insurance company even before driving away for that exact reason because my insurance company covers on agreed value, not market value. If someone turned into your lane, indicated etc and you ran up their ass then you could very well be at fault yknow especially considering you got the ticket. Would need to know more of the inccident to determine for sure though but hitting someone in the rear end does not look good on your behalf unless he blatantly pulled out in front of you, didn't indicate, and you have witnesses to the accident to back up your story but the fact you got a ticket out of it is very bad... Good luck with it! Claims can get messy.
I have to say though, you did such an engine swap WITHOUT upgrading the brakes? Sorry but that's very foolish indeed... When you can go faster, it does help if you can stop faster too :P

Ok the insurence did cover it... I drove it home at night.. insurence company was closed, The car has toyota conversion on it.. not the best brakes... and tires suck. I did not pass and hit someone... I was driving in the left lane (passing lane for those who dont know) the middle and left lane was going very slow the left lane was not... the driver got mad tried to jet into the left lane so he didnt have to go slow and decided the get over when I was 10 feet behind him i was going about 70-75 he was going about 45 maybe 50... basicly i had time to put my foot on the break before I hit him...

Good to hear... Was the payout substantial? Is the motor still ok? If so you can just start again, you'll probably come out on top even if you can find another candidate body for the engine for cheap.

If you had a witness passenger and the guy in the slow car did not use a signal to change lanes then you may have a better leg to stand on legally.
btw how much damage was done to the car? Physical and monetary?
