Q:
This is not the typical "who would win" question. Well, I guess it kinda is, Im just trying to sugar coat it! I have two buddies, both with new cars, neither one has road in the others car, and me and my other buddies havent road in the cars. But we are all taking bets on who is going to win, they are going to do a dead stop, and prolly a 40 punch....the cars are, a 2004 SRT-4 Neon, stock. And a 1993 Dodge Stealth TT also stock. Both are in good mechanical shape and run like they should. Who should win? Lets say both drivers are pretty even (I think the one in Stealth is a little better not by much though). So what do you all think? Thanks!
A:
if they are both good drivers i would put my money on the stealth (awd)
they both can run a high 13...the stealth is gonna launch a lot harder though being awd. The srt likes to skip

Im going with the srt 4 just because funny thing is iv been in the same race i was riding in my buddy stealh 94 tt stock except a bov.
We raced an srt 4 well the neon won his car had three people in it too.
at the next light he told us it was stock
but i still have my money on the Srt 4 there light and the stealth is big enough for a plane to land on it.
But what do i know who knows if the neon was stock but yea those stealths are a very fun car with awd and two turbos and handle like amazing with all wheel steering.

Interesting...are the SRT's really that quick, or are the Stealth just that slow? Ive rode in an SRT4 before, it was quick, but nothing real noteable I didt think.

ok, well the stealth runs almost identical with the 300ZX up until the 1/4 mile mark. So why wouldnt the Stealth beat the SRT-4?
A:
the Neon will win. it has more chick car votes. ;)
If all were equal, none would be strong.

Yes the srt-4 is that quick and no the stealth is not slow. People don't give the srt-4 enough credit. Yes it's a neon but it is fast. My friend bought one this last december and my first drive in it I wasn't impressed. The more I drove it the more I changed my mind. It's pretty decent in a straight but questionable in the turns compared to other performance cars. The main problem with the srt-4 is that it has all that torque and it's fwd. If you don't know how to launch the car it will be slow. When my friend first got it and broke it in we did a couple runs against my 280z. Since he was still learning the car he couldn't launch at all. He would either bog it or wheel hop like crazy. My 280z would take him up to about 70-75 mph before he would pass me. That being said I've also seem them run stock 13.8 in the 1/4 mile when I've gone to the track. The stealth has a similar but opposite issue. If the driver doesn't know how to launch it or is afraid of dropping the tranny he will be slow off the line. The problem with awd cars is that you have to rev them much higher off the line but inherently the clutch or the tranny get abused from these kinds of launches. I have the same problem with my wrx. I don't want to mess it up so I don't launch it hard. So what it comes down to is the driver and not the car. Personaly I'd put money on the srt-4 but anything could happen. Even the mighty 300zx TT would be in the same "it's a drivers race" position.

i watch SRT4's race all the time at sea level Infineon here and they are all in the 14's and an ocassional one dips in the high 13's and one pretty modded one hit a low 13 with about 2k in turbo mods. Thats fast i guess for a 4 banger but not fast enough to be street racing around here. altho the owners think they are pretty hot in them till they get blown away by pretty much everthing else short of a Hyundai SUV.

don't dump the clutch on the stealth since that will be teh end of it...with all wheel drive u want to just slip the clutch till you are off then u let it go...
yeah it will be eating up ur clutch...but that's what happens when u have an awd and want to launch properly

what kind of tires and how much tread and how much does each driver weigh? if one driver weighs say 120 lbs and the other one weighs 350 lbs. it might make a difference.

When i was in that race the car i was in (Stealth tt) He dropped the clucth from around 7k that was quite a take off then he dropped it after swicthing gears also. (talk about a beating on that clucth)
We had him off the line but after 3rd gear the srt 4 started pulling ahead we went up too 110 or so.
That was my first expierence in a drag all i wanted was more
