Considering we got alot of Japanese cars ya'll didn't, it's fairly obvious why aswell as the fact that importing cars from Japan to Australia is CHEAP compared to most places....

The engine in the red Z looks to be an RB20E. I know it came in the R31 Skylines, don't remember which other cars it came in. There was a turbo model as well (RB20ET). My buddy Chuck had a Black R31 with that engine in it for a while until he sold it and bought a 71 Hakosuka. It's a SOHC, pretty reliable, but not alot of power to move a big ass R31 around, didn't have to many after market parts for it either. I think it was more for fuel economy than performance.
There is a few of them in the junk yard right down the street, along with about 5 or so RB20/25DETs.
Forgive my ignorance. I guess it does make better sense that it is an RB30E since they were in the R31s and Holdens in Australia. Guess I have been living in Japan to long...Looks exactly like the RB20E though...

I dont know of any R31's that had the RB30, afaik they only had RB20s but my mums Skyline Ti has the RB30 aswell...

A mate of mine is transpanting an Rb30 from a R31 skyline into his 280zx. They used the body of the r31 for an engine stand (welded some bars etc onto it after it was gutted and the roof removed.
