Q:
i got a call from my best friend kris that is going in the Marines with me- he was drunk, and needed a ride home at midnight cause he had his bike, and didnt want to drive it back-
i go pick him up, we go to KSU (kennesaw state university) and hang out for a bit. at 5 am....
well after that, against my better judegment, i let him drive home carefully infront of me....this was like 5 hours later after his last drink, so i said he could go.
we get stopped at a stoplight, and began to go down Chastain road, kinda near where customlock lives...well...we round a bend, and there is a sweet straightaway that i like to rev the Z up a lot on....
Kris is behind me, and i notice in the distance what looks like a HUGE flashlight being thrown across the road....as we get close, i see tire smoke, and a flipped Honda Passport right at the edge of a drop-off...
i pass the car, drive through debris, and slam on the brake, and run out of the car, Kris parks his bike right next to my pathfinder, and runs and helps me too...the car is upside down, STILL RUNNING...
the drive crawled out through the back window, i look in, kick the drivers window out, and reach in and kill the car. Kris takes two girls out, i grab the other one, by this time the other male is out....
there are about 15 beer cans on the roof, now the floor of the car, and a "bowl". i sit down with the girls, Kris runs back and gets my phone out of the pathfinder, and calls 911...
the girls are freaking out, crying, screaming... in shock, one of them said who are you, we dont know you-get away...and i just stayed there holding the girl that looked like she was in the worst condition.she was bawling, and kept asking if her teeth were still there, they felt like they had fallen out...but they were still there...
none of them were wearing thier seatbelts, they were all soaking wet, and i was scared to death it was blood...when i smelled one girls hair, it wasnt blood, it was beer.
Kris came back, took over helping the girls out, and i jumped up and went and talked to the guys...one of them had a gash in his hand, they both were covered in blood.
against my better judgement, we all three scrummeged throughh the car, took the beer cans, and tossed them in the bushes, as well as the huge cooler full of beer...
long story short, the police finally came, and Kris and i played CSI....
the driver was drunk, he was in the opposite side of divided highway in the far lane. for some reason, he swevered..i think he might have just nicked the far curb, over corrected, hit the median where he hit a tree sideways, flipped in the middle of my lane (his opposing lane) and hit my curb and flipped it again, landing on its roof facing the correct way in my lane. that meant it did a 540 flip and 180 turn.
after seeing this, and after almost witnessing 5 teenagers just a year younger than me loosing their life, im done-
this makes me not want to drive ever again, at least the way i used too. i now am going to constantly remember when i drive my Z, that theres always a chance its my turn-
its different seeing it and helping out in real life than it is watching those stupid teen driving videos...this has changed my life forever-
as for another twist, the driver didnt have his license...they all thought about making a plan up saying one of the girls was driving and fell asleep...it boiled down to the driver going with the EMS, and then i was told by CCPD that he was getting arrested later that night...
a sad story- but one ill remember for the rest of my life- and i hope i see all those people in the future.

hey i'm 35 and still learning.but getting behind the wheel drunk is not a learning experience,it's a death sentence waiting to happen.i hope that kid gets what he deserves.anyone can make a mistake but after all the attention drunk driving gets, one would think people would start to get the hint.a bunch of empty beer cans in the car!thats just plain stupidity.i have a son and a daughter.if my daughter got hurt because someone who was driving was drunk.well lets just say that better never happen.he or she may not make it to the court date.if my son was driving while intoxicated his azz will be out! after a severe azz kicking.he would also have to pay for what he's done.it really bothers me to even think about this in the future.but it is reality and every parent has to think about it.alot of guys on here have kids and i'm sure it's passed through their minds a few times.just my.02 cents

My wifes dad was an EMT for 25 years and has story after story like that except a lot of them don't end up with a happy ending like yours. Driving like an idiot is one thing, doing it while drunk is just asking to be killed. I don't feel sorry for people who kill themselves when driving drunk, they deserve it. I feel sorry when they kill other people who had the misfortune to be on the same road with that a$$hole. Growing up in a small town like i did, there isn't anything else to do on the weekends except go drinking. Funny how I never drove home drunk or let a drunk person drive me home. It only takes a little bit of brain power to make it home safe. I'm glad to hear the driver was going to be arrested at the hospital, unfortunately he will be back on the raod doing stupid crap like that in no time. Do you think he learned a lesson?

Driving is the single most dangerous thing a person will ever do....car wrecks happen in the blink of the eye..I know I have been in a few...having to wear seat belts is the best law they ever passed IMO...and I hate laws..hopefully those kids will learn but I doubt it...once you start doing that sort of thing its hard to stop...I know...I have been drunk and wrecked a couple of cars when I was a teenager. It never entered my mind that I could kill someone ELSE with my irresponsible idiotic stupid actions. I was one of the lucky ones. Many of my friends never made it past 21. Unfortunately many more thousands of people will die or kill someone else due to drinking and driving. Its not worth it. Of course we all know you don't have to be drunk to be an idiot. For every drunk idiot there are 10 sober idiots right there alongside the drunk...driving is taking your life and everyone elses' life in jeopardy everytime you get behind the wheel.
For all of you that live in deer country and have some age to you I think you can relate also that 20 to 25 years ago there were not nearly as many damn deer as there are now...this makes driving just that much more dangerous...in the midwest back in the late 70s early 80s seeing a deer was a treat...now you see more deer than rabbits...its freakin crazy how many deer there are now...

do i think the driver learned his lesson? i think so. when he got up and out of the car, his whole face and hand was bloody---he looked scared to death...
i guess they were all in shock, the two guys pasing back and forth wondering what to tell the cops...
i think they all will realize this morning when they wake up in the hospital with stiches all over them their mistake, and what not to do ever again.
they were all 18 years old, coming up from georgia state university.
ill admit, ive drank before, and i still do; underage...
but NEVER have i gotten in my Z intoxicated...never..
and i never will.
theres some things people just plain know in life, and then there are things people (teens) need to be taught---i just hope this post will give a little insight to all the kids on here, (i know there are a lot) and make them realize, if they dont allready, how dangerous a car is...
ive never thought about my Z car as a death trap, but now everytime i get in it, im going to remember what went on last night, and what i had to deal with.

Andrew, I am glad you saw what could happen without it being YOU, in your sweet Z. Flash forward 5 minutes if the wreck did not happen: Kris falls asleep on his bike and you have to pick up pieces of him as he slides down the highway. Drinking and driving ANY is a open ticket to your own execution.
Just remember how bad of shape they were in and no one was hurt. When someone is dead in the car it is much, much worse.

Bubbleguinea how old are you, you kind of make me laugh cause you say your under 21 (from the drinking underage part), but you keep referencing these kids as teenagers, as well as mentioning "teens" alot. Anyhow, I liked the point about for every 1 drunk theres 10 sober idiots causing problems. Too bad theres not laws to "hang" these sober people also, as we all seem to want to do to drunks. Hey Im not saying driving drunk is ok, but I find the comparison interesting. If you are an idiot and speed or oversteer, ect, and wreck your just an idiot, but if you drive after drinking too much you are sentenced to death. What about the old granny that shouldnt be on the road and cuts a car off causing a wreck? Nevermind...Im just thinking too much I guess.

the kids looked like good people, ya know? typical east cobb kids-
i just dont understand what was so important to get behind the wheel that intoxicated....
i got one of their numbers, Gary...ill give him a call in a week or too. he was the only one that didnt go to the hospital, and he doesnt remember a thing...
the kid is still being charged with a DUI i think, afterall, he is getting arrested.
i dont know why i helped out with getting rid of the weed and beer cans- instinct i guess- i figured hes going to get a LOT of hell, that will just make it worse on all of them, not just the driver, and i didnt want the others to get in trouble for it-----
i just hope i dont ever see something like this again.

Not instinct just piss poor judgement. They were all intoxicated, teenagers wanting to have a "good time", You just helped cover up from their parents. They drank, they drove, you helped cover it up. They aren't learning a thing and neither are you.

cops are anti-teen in this place, and this is a perfect example of why.

You guys are being too god damn hard on bubbles.... it was a think of instinct... nobody was thinking properly at that point in time... He is even admitting now that he made a mistake, so don't say he didnt learn from it because he did.
Sure it was wrong to hide the evidence and all...but I think overall bubbles did the right thing, helping them out and all. He could have just left knowing that his freidn could get in trouble because of the low amount of alcohol he may have had in his system.
Good work bubbles helping those people out. Just because they made a dumb immature deicsion, doesnt mean they didnt deserve the help... Little mistake getting rid of the beer, but do you guys think the cops are that stupid and wont find it anyway?

i think the driver, chase, told the cops he had drank, but it was a long time ago...i dont remember... they gave him a field test, he passed, but the brethalizer he failed on i guess...either way, hes being arrested after he gets back from the hospital...
i wasnt thinking, i guess it was adrelienien or whatever--- all i was interested in was getting the car shut off...i could just see the damn thing catching on fire while we were helping the girls out....

It's instinct for you to commit crimes and cover up for others who commit crimes? You also post such exploits in a public forum?
You need to develop better instincts and a better focus in life before going to basic training. Otherwise, see if you can get out of your contract before you disgrace the Corps.

Andrew loves the attention good or bad. It's a psychological problem that he should deal with before he goes to basic training.
We can't really tell whether or not he learned from the episode, but I'm sure he'll put up another post sooner than later, since this seems to be his diary.

Eighteen years ago, my uncle and father were towing a car and driving in front of me. My uncle tried to take a turn too fast because he missed a stop sign. It was at night, and he wasn't very familiar with the road. The inertia from the car in tow caused his truck to roll over, landing on its wheels.
My reaction was to pull over to a safe spot where it would be unlikely that the car would be hit. I then checked on my father and uncle to render first aid. My father was fine because he used his seat belt. My uncle suffered a dislocated shoulder and was disoriented. I kept him still until the paramedics arrived.
What's your point?

You guys are forgetting your talking to an immature kid. No disrespect intended. It takes moments in life such as described above in most cases to gain maturity. I've faced many wrecks just like this one. The only difference being that all them involved people I knew personally. a few of my friends flew 130' over an embankment and landed in my back yard an hour after I was doing the same exact thing. 2 of my friends lost their lives in my back yard! They were high and intoxicated. The only person without a license was driving. That is just one case. I've been involved with at least 4 others.
So keep chasing people off. I really don't see a case here for condemning him. I do think he screwed up by tossing the stuff for sure. And for sure the people in the wreck probably won't learn a lesson from this one. But pulling over and helping out was the right thing to do. I bet half of you folks on here have not been in such circumstances. It's a totally different ball game. And if you have and had the courage and the wits to do the correct thing then my hat is off to you.

I gonna hit the middle of the road here: Bubbles (Andrew) what you did was very helpful and very foolish. It was a very commendable thing to tend to their injuries BUT, it was very foolish for you to tamper with evidence as I'm sure you know. I sound like a parent because I am one! You really should have left the booze where it lay and let the officers found it, the kids need to learn their lesson. "The cops are very anti-teen in this place", it's to keep idiot like them from harming themselves and others, case in point! I do not condone the goverment or law enforcement from controlling us but where there is termoil someone needs to step in if the parents don't.

I wasn't having any thoughts of destroying the evidence.
I could also say that your situation paled in comparison to mine in that you did not see family members having an accident right in front of you.
While replying to your posts is feeding your delusions, I am trying to help you. Unfortunately, your narcissism and your desire to be at the center of attention will probably keep you from paying attention to the bottom line message.
Let's cover the basics:
1. When you do something stupid, do NOT write about it unless you are making a cautionary tale to warn others not to do the same. While everybody makes mistakes, you are quick to rationalize yours. That leaves me to wonder if you truly have the ability to discern between right and wrong.
2. You should reflect on why you have such a strong desire to draw attention to yourself whether in a positive or negative light. When you go to basic training, your attitude will likely draw attention to you in a negative light, possibly even to a degree with which you cannot cope.

i dont think anyone here would have come up on that accident and just driven off. everyone would have stopped to help and call 911. so doing so doesnt make you a saint or even special,HOWEVER- disposing of evidence and illegal drugs is about the stupidest assinine thing anybody could ever do. you could go to jail for that -its a felony and it could easily keep you from being able to join the military. it really scares the hell out of me to know that MIGHT get into the military and be given a weapon. i dont want someone like YOU defending my family or my country. YOU are a complete idiot. your parents did a first rate job of teaching you didnt they.
if anyone suffers permenant injuries from the accident and LAWSUITS insue then you will likely be named in court and be liable for disposing of the evideince.
its one thing to help people who are hurt but YOU broke the law and deserve to be punished for your crime!!!
and for the record i have been nearly killed by a drunk driver when i was 18 and had someone tampered with the scene i would sue their ass es off.
i also have come up on several bad accidents over the years and never ONCE even considered doing anything with the scene other than to help the people who sustained iinjuries.

The driver should have died right then and there what what he did. He didn't though. I would have left every single beer in the car. After the police showed up and telling them of any injuries, the next thing out of my mouth would have been, "They were drinking." You do something dumb like that you pay the price.

the police never even took down our information- so i doubt they care--the fact is, they knew he was drinking, and im sure now if he had any THC in him, its found out, cause he went to the hospital.
i dont *think* the police would care about some empty beer cans in the car-but then again, who knows. it happened, i did it, and zxtoy, thanks...ill remember what you said :-/

Thank god they don't seu (or however it's spelt) people in our country for doing things that they instinctly thought were right at the time.
People react to situations in all sorts of ways, that's what makes humans humans. Thanks for sharing your story bubbles.
I commend him because he wasn't the driver or in the car with a drunk arse bastard, and that he actually tried to help the people in the car other than the gutless bastards who would just drive by, call the cops then quickly leave or stand there and watch the car burn.
Weather he threw the cans away or not it doesn't change the fact that the exact same lessons will eventuate from the drink driving incedent.

"my life just changed "
There is no lesson here at all.

I'm not going to give any lecture here - you don't need it.
I will offer this advice - for anyone who drives especially a lot and at late hours.
Keep a first aid kit - for yourself and others. Take or at least read up on basic first aid. I'm no EMT but have to have a little above average training and re-training in my job.
As one EMT once taught us - you are wearing everything I need to save a life.
Stop the bleeding - loss of blood is the basic killer.
Treat for shock ( keep a warm blamket) keep the patient still as possible -
Be very carefull about moving injured people - this is a big judgement call for someone first on the scene - there is a very big danger about neck injuries - aggravate the injury and paralysis or death can occur -
But you have no way of knowing the extent of injury - unless the car is in danger of fire or people are stapped in a position to make injuries worse - it's best to wait for EMT personnel.
Keep them immobile, warm and stop bleeding - that's the best you can do.
You did right to help them out - up to a point.
Always (this is for everyone) remember the Police are not stupid - they deal with this all of their career - they know what an accident scene looks like - they know when things don't look right - they know when people are lying.
When people need help - do the best you can. You did.
You have learned a valuable lesson that some never learn.
Keep your head down, your powder dry and listen to the Seargeant - he knows and will teach you everything he can that you will need to know to keep you and your commardes in arms alive.
Good luck!

Bubbles,
Here's some food for thought:
If this drunk driver did not wreck by himself, he could very possibly have been in your lane while you were treating a public road like your personal track (at night), and could have killed you or your friend on the bike, or both! You did not mention once in your story that this even crossed your mind: that the SUV was a life-threatening danger to you and everybody else he came close to that night. Why cover for someone that could have been guilty of manslaughter if things happened just a little differently?
Oh well. I suppose not thinking of those dangers is part of being young and invincible. I hope your luck continues during you tour in the Marines. Just promise us one thing: you do exactly what your CO tells you, and don't try thinking for yourself and you will probably stay alive.

Now imagine if someone here calls Cobb County Sheriff's Dept.?
If you do something illegal and stupid, don't admit to it on a public forum dude!!
Very noble of you to have rendered aid, but just think with blood everywhere if one of the young party animals happened to have AIDS and you cut yourself on the wreckage and then accidentally mingled blood with them?
Always a danger and lesson to be learned from helping others as well.
I'm not an EMT, but I imagine that could be a realistic possibility at any bloody accident scene.

norm-- i wasnt really thinking about that to be honest with you---once again, it goes with the "rush" of doing something like that, you dont think about the negative things till later.
now a girl names Jessica Conner wrote me this on facebook, somehow she found me :

hey. this is really hard for me.
i just wanted to thank you for stopping at the accident last night. one of my best friends, was the boy driving. he is extremely lucky. it was an extremely bad decision on his part but i am VERY thankful that you and your friend stopped. i went back to the accident site with him at about 7 tonight, and we were looking for some stuff. it was bad. i really cannot thank you enough. i wish there was something i could do to let you know how much i appreciate what you did.
im really glad that the accident changed your mind about the way you drive. im just gonna let you know that there is no doubt in my mind that it has changed his too. he told me that he will never drink or smoke again. not only to not drive, but he said he wouldnt do it until he was of age. im really glad that he's ok.
and i am really glad that you stopped. like seriously i dont know what to say besides thank you so much.
God bless you .

So anyhow...theres really only one major point to this long episode, and its a point that Im sure many of us hold dearly and true to our hearts. I want to know, did you get any of those girls numbers? And were they decent enough to go out with in the near future, despite all the stitches and bruising? Basically the story is said and done with, so lets get down to the important facts of the issue at this time, thank you.
A:
good grief, lets hope you dont get put in the motorpool in the Marines!

I'm just guessing here... but I would bet the cops thought it was pretty odd to find these teens reeking of beer but not a can in sight... Who knows, maybe they'll charge one or more of them with tampering with evidence and not bubbles... that'll feel good!

Regarding tossing the beer cans: It probably didn't matter one bit.
You said they were drenched in beer and the roof of the car had a pool of beer in it. There's no way the cops are not going to notice all of the kids smell like beer and will assume they've all been drinking underage.
The kids are still young, so whatever the law does to them will hardly matter in the long run. They're all just lucky they're not dead. The driver will get DUI and probably loose his license for a while, but at least he didn't kill anyone and face manslaughter charges. All the kids were very lucky.
If you've learned a lesson from their mistake, then good.
Someone else here said that the best defence for drinking and driving is to not drink at all. If you've been drinking, and you have keys in your pocket, there's always some circumstances that might put you behind the wheel and your resolve to not drink and drive becomes a lot weaker when you've had a few.

"cops are anti-teen in this place, and this is a perfect example of why."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
What a typical KID statement!
The cops are NOT "anti-teen"---they just realize how universally STUPID Teenagers are, and take steps to SAVE YOU FROM YOURSELVES!
As you have EMINENTLY DISPLAYED, you attempted to COVER UP a crime.
A Mature individual would NOT have done so.
They aren't "anti-teen" at all. They just know the score and actually do what your parents obviously are incapable of doing.

I could repost my experience that involved a 1972 Chrysler Newport Convertible ripped in two, with multipile fatalities (of personal friends that I played Football with in High School), but it still wouldn't sink in that what he did was wrong.
Which is why I called Bullsh*t below. This is just another in a plethora of Lil-Buddies examples of how it's the first time in history anything like this has happened, and anyone who had anything worse happen isn't applicable and how he handled it was the only way to do it---regardless ofr worse situations that were handled in a morally correct and lawful manner...

I know I took the bait and responded to some of his posts, but it did strike me that his story was written in a style similar to Hawk's stories. Could they be related to one another? Could they be the same person? Enquiring minds want to know (and laugh).
