depreciating value of the Z32 cus of the Z33?

General Chat

Q:

What do you all think the z33 does to the value of the z32 na and tt ?
A:

im no expert but id say pretty much nothing...they're completely different cars. they arent going to be cross shopped, if anything id say Z33 just keeps the legend alive. Maybe it'll turn some more enthusaists onto the older Z's but it wont have an impact on their value.

the z33 is cheaper on the lot then the z32 was, so maybe they are looking for a way to keep people buying z's..

the z33 makes every other z more valuable. for instance, i never would have bought a 240z w/o first owning the 350z.

But what does the Z31 do to the price of the Z32?

Im sure most people (including the retards at the DMV) dont even know that these cars are related. As far as Z31's affecting prices of Z32's, i'd say it boosted the Z32 because the z31 looks like crap when compared.
Don't bash me Z31 guys, because sadly I own a Z31 turbo (it's kept out back where nobody has to see it)
A:

Z33 had no effect on the Z32 pricing, for them most part. The cars are entirely in different market segments, and compliment each other.
The Z33 is more of an economy sports car with trackability and decent handling. The Z32 is a "GT cruiser" like the Supra with luxury features (4 wheel steering, turbos, leather interior, etc), but worse handling.
Remember, the Z32 was a very expensive car in the day. My original window sticker was $38.5K in 1991, which is probably $50K by today's car market. Conversely, you can have a Z33 today for just over half that.

i used to think the z31 were the worst thing ever and to make a long story short me and the girl were out car shopping for here - looked at a z31 and i hated it she wanted it - we got it and i took it over and out of the 10 cars i have had it and the series one are the only ones i have kept and ill come out and say it - i love it :P plus put it in its time you had the fox body the F body the vett(diff price range) maybe a rx 7 turbo so deffinatly one of the better comming out of that
- but personally in my quest for a z32tt i have seen the prices drop some - now the ones that are super well taken care of or making power still demand some $$$ but nas can be had for cheap and normall TTs have deff dropped but i dont think its due to the z33 if anythgin i think the z33 would make the older Zs hold more value its probably just due to age and alot of ppl dont know what they are :P

The value of the Z31's here is steadily going up, and the Z32 isn't valued at much more either... The Z32 is just far too common here, so the overall value reflects upon that.

WHAT?
Are you getting enough sleep man?
I haven't drive a "GT cruiser" that handle close to the Z32....maybe a 944 turbo, but none other. and Believe me, I've driven a lot of GT cruisers in the course of looking for the right sport car.

Why does the '96 come in (5 SPOTS BELOW) the '95? What makes a car that is a year newer that much worse than the year before?
God must love stupid people, he made SOOOOO many of them!

i'm sure he was hoping someone would ask that.

It's because the '96 has lots of emission and ecu upgrades.
This makes aftermarket upgrading much harder.
This is the short answer, for all the details just search the 90-96 tech forum.

The Z32 was a different market, and it an old used car now. Their values are bottomed out between 10 and 15 years, and then if they are worth anything, the values wil lgo back up. In the USA, the newest Z32 you get is 10 years old.
The performance of the Z33 is close to the stock performance of the last TT's for a cost half what it was.
The people who might buy a used Z32 aren't the same people who would buy a new Z33 in most cases. Usually it's the other way around, they buy a new one, then get a craving for one of the older models...
"But what does the Z31 do to the price of the Z32?"
Nothing again. The Z31 is a nice driveline donor for 510's, though. And for Diffys on earlier cars.... There were a few 510 VG powered conversions, as well as a 3.4L VG33 conversion on one 510. That is a scootmobile! Far better utilization of the engine than the original package, IMO.
I donated that 66 Corona to the Toyota Museum because it sat in the back yard for 4+ years without the owner ever bucking up the $$$ for it, and the tape measure had already confirmed the dimensions for a VG30 swap for a Funny-Car style Dragster....

Here is Australia... As saturated as the US market was with Z31's, is as saturated as the market is here with Z32s.

And without getting into an arguement with Tony D, the 510 is about as aerodynamic as a brick but it's a nice unintended compliment that Z31 parts can fix most older Nissans that otherwise would be junkers "IMO" ;)
