so i'm helping a buddy move his stuff his crazy girl, and i mean crazy, beat him up and threw him out. slashed his tires and all kinds of crazy stuff. so i following him down the road doing about 25 or so cause the tires on his trailer are going flat! i know not safe but had to get it to an area we could park it. when his crazy a$$ girl comes flying by my right side! this is a 2 lane road one coming one going. she is in the grass slams into the passenger front fender of my oldmobile and keeps on going passing me and gets in front of her boyfriend and locks up the brakes. He goes around her almost hitting on coming traffic, me and my passenger are stopped calling the police. she took off following her boyfriend. skipping all the boring details, she ended up with a careless driving ticket and gets away scott free. i went to my insurance place and wouldn't you know it her insurance policy was cancelled on 06-11-05. yes 2005!. WTF! and not to mention her drivers licenses is also expired!! i don't have full coverage on the olds cause its nice but nowhere near perfect. so now i have to deal with an incapable police officer and more than likely foot the bill on my car (i'm waiting on the body shop to call with an estimate). if you guys ever come to florida stay out of clay county! these cops are retards here i swear! well i just wanted to vent some and share my fun story with all you guys!.

A few years ago it made sense to me to start carrying uninsured motorist insurance. That might be a consideration for you. I don't believe you have to have full coverage to purchase it. Too many people driving around like this girl you mentioned. Just a matter of time until you run into one, or one runs into you. Good luck.

yeah seems to be that way. i'm going to try to get the officer to at least charge her properly. that will make me feel a little better. i'm due to renew my insurance next month i think i will add uninsured motorist. i just can't believe she did all this and got away with it. man she had her 1 1/2 year old daughter in the car when she did it. as for finding new friends that one is gone him letting this little byatch do this was enough for me to see how good a buddy he was.

its almost hypocritical a state requires uninsured motorist coverage. lol how bout they just get insurance! only in america! florida only requires PIP/Liablility to get a tag and drive. I have PIP Liablility and Bodily Injury, but like i said i think uninsured motorist is going to be added.

man that girl actually has bad mental problems but he says "i can change her man" at this point i just think he likes having his tires slashed and getting hit. i just know she screwed up ramming my car. i was just tagging along making sure we got his trailer parked somewhere acceptable. after the incident we spent 3 hours getting all his things moved, just for him to go back the next day. now he has a million and one excuses for her actions. i'm done with him now. there is no excuse for it, i've known him since we were 12, he's had a rough life so i've helped him as much as i could but the thanks i get is this. I hate to say it but i'm trying to get his girl thrown in jail and fix my damn car. i may have to dip in to the Z's fund to fix the olds, that'll really tick me off but i need my daily driver.

I got mine through Geico and it is uninisured/liabilty/and personal injury protection.....just liabilty in general......you guys made me get my damn insurance policy out....you cant get one without the other...least not here in Virginia...it was that way in Kansas too..if you got liability and someone hits you that is not insured they fix it provided you were not at fault...then they sue the guy that hit you...collision is only good for when you hit somethin and it is your fault. Comprehensive is hail damage, theft, etc.

I think you need collision for that (due to the fact the other driver has no insurance)

lol...well techncially it is kind of a combination here.....they make you get insurance in case the other guy doesnt have any...only in America...lol...at least I think thats what mine says...I havent had just liabilty in a long time...I used to have money and much newer vehicles...lol

Also here in Virginia you can pay $500 and not have insurance...not sure what the caveats are for that but I am sure they aren't good..

Just checked my insurance and I actually pay $20.00 a year to be covered from uninsured drivers.
If I had declined it (God only knows why you wouldn't pay twenty a year) then I would be screwed if someone without insurance hit me.

you guys with uninsured motorist coverage need to contact your insurance company and get claification on what uninsured motorist really does cover. in nebraska we are required to have it with any auto policy. i have liability on my zx and got curious after reading this thread and called my agent. he said that uninsured motorist policy does not pay to fix my car if someone without insurance hits me. it covers bodily damage to anyone riding in my car if im hit by an unisured motorist to protect me from being sued by my passengers for injury. my liabilty policy alone would not cover any passengers in my car in an accident.
just wanted you guys to know this so you can check with your insurance and if it is the same you wont think you cars damage is covered.
up until this i thought uninsured motorist coverage meant my car was taken care of if i was hit by someone without insurance--i was surprised to hear otherwise!

thanks zxtoy mine says "Uninsured motorist" - "Pays damage an insured is legally entitled to recover because of bodily injury or death, or damage to the insured vehicle caused by the uninsured vehicle or hit-and-run motorists".....But you have to have property damage and bodily injury coverage too. Sounds like different states and companies might be different...

Personally, I think that the cop should feel a little heat in this situation.
Imagine if he let her go afterward (with no insurance, invalid license and out of date plates) and then she kills your friend, when she really should be in jail. Derelict of duty I'd say, since everyone knows (just by watching COPS) that the first thing they do is ask "license and registration".
If you are smart, do as you say and don't go near the 2 of them, since no reimbursement will ever come.

What part of Florida are you in? I grew up down there and don't miss this kind of crazy nonsense at all.
I would go talk to the police again -- tell them that you're going to talk to your congressman about the situation if she's not charged properly -- but, at the very least, take her to small claims court. Even if you never get your money, she will get a boatload of stress out of having to appear in court.

No, seriously, TAKE HER CAR. Tow the sucker and sell off parts to get your car fixed. That takes care of the damage she did to you AND does the State(and public) a favor in keeping her off the road w/o licence and insurance to strike again.

ok let me rephrase that, she rammed her seperated husbands car, she isn't even divorced from him, and he is over there all the time with her so don't know how they are seperated. i just had a real nice conversation with my former buddy. he can't understand why i'm so angry, she is sorry and she needs mental help. and he has no intentions of paying for the repairs i told him i suppose i'll be sueing her then. i swear this stupid bull only happens in florida..... hit and run, child in vehicle, no license, no insurance, passing in the dirt on the right side of the road= careless driving.... friggin A! i'm so mad i'm laughing about it. that is former buddy! and he deserves everything she does to him too! sorry for such big pics to by the way. i know its not terrible damage but there wasn't a dent on that car, i take pride in keeping my ride in good shape! gives me an excuse to look for some wheels for it now it guess. all i know is she is lucky it wasn't the Z or the 240SX or she would have died on the scene.

yeah i know i've thought about it. they are really shoddy around here though, couple of bad things happened to kids in this area while they were "investigating" A father turned his kids mother and boyfriend in for beater her. cps found nothing wrong in the house. the boyfriend ended up killing the little girl shortly afterwords. i really have mixed emotions about it.
