1001 HP is conservative for that engine. The company I represent sold equipment to VW to break in that engine on the production line. They saw it make 1400HP on the dyno more than once. That car would be so cool to drive.

The reason the car "only" does 1,001 HP is because they could not build a transmission that could handle the stresses and be small and lightweight at the same time.
I recall one of the driveline engineers saying his hair went from natural color to all white, just by being in the transmission design group.
