Check out the new hose clamps.

Hi folks,
At last week's car show I saw some interesting clamps used on a turbocharger. They are called T-bolt clamps. They have probably been around for a while but they were new to me. I picked up a few for the 77 and threw them on the intake. I think they look pretty good. I also got some new radiator hose clamps. I like their style too. And, I read somewhere where the new clamps are good for at least 5+ hp.

those things give me nightmares just lookin at them.....we used to have to put them inside the engine support struts to connect ductwork on KC-135s...wayyyy back inside where you couldnt get a tool on them for nothin...good clamps though...

Those arent new at all. You wont see those on race cars, as they are HEAVY compared to the plain jain ones.

Don't ever look at the World-Beating IMSA #75 Millen 300ZXTT, or the NPTI #80 Prototype Car!
Serious Boost Requires a REAL clamp, not some spring wire and a worm gear!
Those and V-Band Clamps are almost all they use on Turbo Piping in Real Racers. You won't find a 'extrudo-matic' Breeze #49 anywhere on that piping!

Same style clamp found on you average run of the mill Ford Super Duty and Chevy Duramax diesel trucks... I have a bunch of them from 2 different manufactures. I plan on using them on my car for sure!

I just got them because they look better than the ones I had. However, I can see why people use them in heavy duty applications. They are much stronger than the regular radiator clamps I'm used to using. And, they look really cool.

Regular hose clamps were used for a long time as motor mount fasteners on dragsters..... The surfers actually used them once to hold their chassis together after a failed attempt at adding length to the frame.... They were at the drags, the braze joints were failing, so they hose clamped the chassis together until they could get it fixed the next week.... Never underestimate the strength of a regular hose clamp. They will work just fine for anything the folks on this board are doing.

I blow out regular hose clamps at 15psi. Switched them all to t-bolts and I don't worry about that problem anymore.

I use them on all my intercooler connections as well. You loose one race on a money round because of a blown-off connections...they would've payed for themselves.
