How To Prepare Your Car For The "Dark Season"
According to regular servicing data for 2001, around 36 percent of the vehicles inspected had defective lamps. In the dark months of fall and winter in particular, fully functioning lights are the most important guarantee of road safety. Defects such as faulty brake lights or indicators usually go unnoticed by the driver inside the car. Moreover, faulty headlamp settings cannot be detected with the naked eye.
So please - check your vehicle’s entire lighting system, from the headlamps to the reversing lights - make sure you can see and be seen better in the fall and winter months and reach your destination safely.

He has done this every year I have been on the site, and I applaud him for it. Lets face it, our cars are 20+ years old, and we are usually cheap ba$tards. A little reminder now and then can't hurt. And if he makes a sale or two, so what? Better to keep undamaged Z's on the road.

Thanks Michael!
I also post another similar reminder after we go off of daylight savings.
My basic purpose is to make sure you can see and can be seen wherever you go to persue your goals or whoever you buy from.
That way we can continue to converse on a subject near and dear to all our hearts, the Z.

I have Sylvaina Xtravision lamps in mine and they do just fine for my little night driving times. And lemme tell ya, they are really bright on high beams.

I believe the Z car mods would prefer it if he laid out a small bit of cash for a banner ad rather than sneakily making posts about it... But hey what do I know?! ;)

Some people benefit from the advice to get out of the rain, or instructions on how to open an umbrella. I'm sure if you live in a country with precipitation there are many sources of rain protection. LOL!
I hope that I'm helping.
I never have refused to answer questions or help solve problems no matter what you are using or where it was purchased.
I even send folks to the competition when I think they will have a better result.
Like I said before, I like Z's; own them myself, belong to clubs, etc.
I'm primarily a wholesale distributor and I guess I could send you to one of the retailers that carry my products, (some have banner ads already).
Will you get the same answers to technical questions from them?
I sure hope so.
But you just might be left in the dark.

Have a wonderful and glorious day and an even better night.
I know I will with my new High/Low HID Kit.
That's right folks,
true HID on both high and low,
not some 'poser' HID low and halogen high
or BS bulbs marked "HID" or whatever.
Fits any H4/9003/HB2 housing or application.
TRUE HID; Tubes, ballasts, harness...
This application uses the latest design technology to go from low/dipped beam to high/main beam with the HID tubes as shown by some of the OE suppliers utilizing this technology on E marked and TUV approved vehicles today. (Bi-HID)
This is truly daylight at night with less power draw than conventional OE lighting technologies used in the past and a life expectancy that should surpass the life of the vehicle!
This is really seeing, especially in an early Z!

It's informative and it's a safety issue, albeit a pretty obvious one. No reason to stop him from posting it once per year.

I can't complain about my Z's headlamps. I have no intention of replacing them.
No, I'm not going to die...they're just light bulbs and they work fine.
Not sure if this quite qualifies as dirty, filthy spam, but this is not something I like to see on message boards.

Cmon now, so what's stopping someone posting about the saftey issue of brakes and then throwing in a link to their website which sells brake kits? Or tyres or windscreen wipers or air bags or whatever!
Dont mistake genuine concern for blatant advertising, h4lights knows the deal.

I do carry the yellow bulbs in H4 that were so popular in France and other european countries many years ago.
They are made by Narva, (60/55 Narva 'Gold'), and obviously are that very pale 'euro' yellow.
Interestingly France and the bordering countries are supposed to have adopted these lights to allow for better visibility in bad weather conditions. I have read that it is a hold over from the days when vehicles ran acetelyne lights that put out a yellowish color.
I did not know "How To" was required in Car Talk, but here goes;
How To See Better At Night:
Buy the best illumination you can afford.
Check it regularly.
Keep it adjusted/aligned correctly.
For optimal results with most sealed beam and halogen applications, it is a good idea to replace them every couple of years. An oxidized coating develops on the inside of the sealed beam lens and halogen capsule caused by incomplete 'cycling'. Some tests have shown up to a 40% decrease in less than a year, especially if the voltage to the lights varies or the headlights are turned on and off frequently in cold environments.
Also, if you run higher wattage bulbs it's a good idea to run relays and even with relays expect your life expectancy to be much shorter than with standard wattage replacements. Heat is the killer here, even with exotic gasses added to the capusule mix to keep temperatures down and aid in 'halogen cycling'.
Price does not always indicate quality so get feedback from folks that have used the products.
One of the english car magazines a few years ago tested all kinds of bulbs from many different manufacturers. They found a company based in Japan that charges a premium for their bulbs to consistently perform at the bottom of the heap. Surprisingly, a low cost brand actually had very good manufacture and output and beat some of the big boys in lighting, (and no, they were not and advertiser in the magazine).
I have found that in most headlight applications that a good E marked assembly matched up with a quality bulb of whatever manufacturer beats most other offerings.
The only advantage I've found with any DOT application is the allowance of stray light over the horizon line in the low/dipped setting to illuminate overhead signs. This the DOT has allowed for municipalities too cheap to iluminate signage and has contributed to the tsunami of complaints to NHTSA for "glare" issues.
*Warning! Subliminal Sales Pitch:
I have found that for the money my Ecode housings matched up with Narvas XB3 bulbs give the best performance overall. The advantage of the Ecode pattern becomes obvious the first time you light them up and coupled with the XB3 bulb that put out a brilliant white light with standard wattage illumination to operate correctly in limited power environments, (these were originally designed for motorcycles folks), you have the best possible, especially where price is an issue.
But, if the price is not that important the Hi/Low HID's are amazing!
I've Attached a Couple of Info Sheets;

You nelected to mention no group buy solicitations.
I'm sure this is because of the history of such enterprises.
As I have said many time before:
"Buy the best you can afford from whomever you wish to do business with".
Just check those bulbs to make sure they work!

If everyone contributed the knowlege and offered the excellent products (at a fair price! how's that for spam?) that h4lights does, this site would be much better.
Instead we get a bunch of monkeys in trees yelling "Spam!". It was funnier when Monty Python did it.

They aren't yelling, they are screeching, and flinging shite, as monkeys are wont to do once one starts.
Nothing like jumping on the bandwagon of the uninformend malcontent noobs with nothing better to do than fling their shite...
