Wandered through a few junkyards this morning (bad thing when you are "#1" on the sign-in list and you are supposed to be 'working')
Was astounded to find several ZXT's, three in fact, in a row. First one was an 83ZXT 2+2 with a BW 5-speed. The people "perusing" before me had done such a nice thing: pulled the valve cover, and seeing it was a hydraulic head, kept the valve cover. Didn't even throw a floor mat over the exposed valve train. nice, thanks for that effort!
Second was an 81ZXT Coupe. Apparently this one was "more desirable" because the "perusers" pulled the head and intake, along with the turbo bits. Hilarious thing was they went through the effort to pull the 81 ZXT Distributor and drive spindle, leaving the CAS right on the front of the engine. They "cut the harness" to get it out. In other words if they were thinking they got "all the good bits" they left the CAS Trigger---that dizzy they took is empty! Einsteins, I tell ya. Left the block there. For the way this yard charges, they paid slightly more for the parts they got individually than they would have pulling the whole engine!!! Hey, the whole thing fits ina a hatchback, so no excuses about not having the room!
Last was another 82 ZXT Coupe. Looked like someone used a chisel to remove the intake manifold. Nice to see someone got aluminum chunks down inside the engine. Not a bad way to go when you are going to rebuild the engine.... But jeez!

Atleast you got to see something. I crawled around a yard for parts for my daughter's car(there goes my mad money) and didn't see one Z -NONE!
Of course my wife was happy because the last zxt I saw i bought the whole car and had it towed to the house. She especially loved the loud beeping when the truck backed into our little suburbia home for the neighbors to hear.

Restorable Shiro that for some unknown reason, they ripped the front end out from under the car. Yes, it used to be attached to the car, but not now.

Yea P90's are bringing a pretty penny these days. THey are also getting rare! I have about 7 in stock now, and I used to have alot more.

man i dont know what some ppl are thinking but i love the ppl that go to the junk yard and want a head or intake manifold and bring one philips screw driver - i love that ****
also i dont know if ppl are just screwing around or what but i swear ppl go there to get used gaskets - its the only thing i could come up with after seeing manifolds pulled and everyhting is there perfect usable condition but no gasket - or when there is a head pulled and the head looks great and so dose block pistions valves bla bla but its all there and there is no head gasket

I pulled an f54/p79 engine out and tore it down just for the pistons/rods...felt kinda guilty, because the car had been in front end collision, and the j/y guys said the engine would still run!! And the worst part is this: I had lost my 10mm wrench so i couldn't pull those last two bolts on the head that connect to timing cover. Unfortunately, at 105 deg.F, I decided "screw it" and just ripped the head off. it destroyed the timing cover and probably the head too, but I was just ready to get those pistons and get the heck out of there!

I went back today with the boy.
We successfully infiltrated the "no one under 18 yrs old" yard, and he helped me "harvest" what was of use since we had some time today.
Left the swastikas. The fourth was dented heavily. Looks like the car had jumped the curb and got impounded. Still had fuel pressure in the rail.
Got the engine, someone else got the trans.
Engine, complete with harness, AFM, extra E12-80 Dizzy, Reduction Starter, 240mm Flywheel and pressureplate/clutch assy, all the vacuum goodies, and the Nissan Alloy Lug Nut Set...
Frank, cover your eyes: $265 outright, no exchange core.

i went to a local yard yesterday looking for a replacement e12-80 dizzy and the one i found in the 79 slick top had a broken breaker plate of course, along with 2 of the 3 i own. the rotor button was blue on the end so i guess i got pretty damn hot. so i've got one good dizzy. i might go back and get just the module and see if i can source some breaker plates to install in my other two. i wonder if someone could take them apart and machine a billet cage like the plastic one that breaks and put it back together..? just a thought.

I know that Sun Valley has quite a few pick and pulls, including a very large one by the Vulcan plant.
