Interested in where you guys get parts and how many of you go used vs. new.
I guess categories would be:
* Junkyard
* MSA/BlackDragon or other aftermarket Z suppliers
* Napa/Autozone/Kragen or other chains
* Nissan
* parts cars
* other ??

if you live in the DFW area then you have this option..$500 sounds like a damn good deal if they have really been in the garage since the late 70's.

Some things i like to buy new. Like belts, hoses, water pumps, a/c driers. i go to AutoZone for this stuff.
Other stuff I like to buy used. Like driveshafts, control arms, various interior pieces, condensor, evaporator core, intake manifold, etc. For these I go to the junkyard.
Other stuff is too heavy to carry from J/Y, so I buy a parts car. Like when I bought a turbo 280zx as a donor for a swap.
Other stuff needs to be new, but AutoZone doesn't have it (or doesn't have good enough quality). Like my expansion valve and the manifold gasket for my L28ET. I buy this stuff from Nissan.
Other stuff is aftermarket, like urethane bushings and sway bars. I bought that stuff from MSA.
So it depends on what I'm buying!!

I watch ebay like a hawk..I prefer Courtesy...they just have great service...as long as its enough to cover the mandatory $9.00 shipping fee. I got Advance Auto right next door for ordinary stuff which is extremely handy! I just walk about 200 feet and I am there...the folks at MSA are really good too..I dont have a junkyard within a 50 mile radius of me that I know of..I have also used Auto Parts Warehouse out of New Jersey (I think) and they ship stuff out fairly fast...

All hoses, belts and filters — NAPA.
Alts, AFMs — basically all 'hard' parts — junkyard. Pick Your Part, U Pull and one other self-serve are all close to me. Usually keep a list and go to their once-a-month half-price weekends.
I also bought a very cheap, very rusty 1975 parts car for my '76 (identical for all practical purposes) and it has paid for itself MANY times over when I need some small piece or even large one. Between it and my '76, for example, I was able to cobble together a working BCDD (at least I think it works) . . . for free!
Have also bought a few things off eBay but last few years, bargains for Z car stuff are rare. Everybody either knows what this stuff is worth, has no idea but charges too much, or tries to 'con' buyers with excessive use of the words "very rare" for basically junk you can get anywhere and nobody wants. Normal replacement parts like tune up stuff gets bought brand new. Other components either come from parts cars or e-bay.

I sneak over to other club member's houses and steal parts off their cars.
