Absoltely. Plugs, oil filter and thhermostat would be.

yeah not much. don't even use the same air filter, lol. different intake, exhaust, valve covers, heads, cams, going with hybrid on this one. that VQ40 was made for trucks and small SUVs.

and actually nissan calls for the short filter on the 35 and the longer one on the 40

The new vq35 uses the same tall block as the vq40. They are going to the tall block to help reduce piston scuffing problems in the vq35 due to the less than perfect rod/stroke ratio. I believe they will use the same crank and heads but are using longer rods and intake manifold. This will also help with a longer piston skirt for a more stable in the bore piston.
