As per Garret on the CS side of HKS in LA. HKS discontinued the 11044-91MM1 1MM and other L 6 cyl series Steal gaskets 6 years ago. So we've been buying them up from someone that bought the last overstock of them a while back... Better get them while they are still approx 100bux and available new.

Courtesy says they are moving wherehouses and it will be another week before they can begin selling gaskets again... who really knows though 2 weeks is a typical number that companies use when they don't have an ETA.
I hope I can find one. I was planning on getting a few as I am really happy with the 2mm I have on one of my cars currently.

Just got a call this evening that Sensei is in Hospice with an open tumor and chemo is not going well at all...
They are saying 6 weeks or less. Bedridden now with Morphine demand drip. I am going up to see him tomorrow. Had I known earlier, I would have stopped by driving back yesterday.
Doubt he will have the energy to work on the Bug now...

So what the hell are you supposed to use for a headgasket if ya wanna build a 3.1L? I don't think I can afford to have a copper headgasket made nor do I have access to a machine to mill one out either, CRAP! Guess I'll just throw this Maxima diesel crank and 240 rods in the trash now, GROAN!

???I'm not sure why the sarcasim!
The parts are still available if you read the post carefully enough. As per Modern Motorsports they are just moving wherehouses and the part has been temp unavailable and "should" be available in a 2 weeks. I personally just never beleive a 2 week eta from anyone. It usually means they are having problems sourcing the part. I do know that after calling HKS directly there is a HUGE/GIGANITIC overstock of these gaskets that were bought up 6 years ago. They made it sound like there should be plenty around still that there was just that many gaskets in overstock!
There are a few other manufactures that make similar gaskets. They are 2X the cost of the HKS part. They start around $230 from all that I've seen. I even worked with a few companies including Remco and Cometic to get another gasket built. They were both slightly more expensive than the original HKS part.
I have not been able to source HKS gasket anywhere else. I'm having a friend at Courtesy Nissan in San Jose try and find some. He didn't give me a call back on Fri so I will call him on Mon.
