I used to fish like that (with a truck).... then I switched to dynomite (until I blew off my arms and legs)... I now find panther-martins to be the best for trout (after a small black dry fly) :)

btw you should mark those old abandonded vehicles with a GPS, photo and model/year ID for collectors. You may get a finders fee. Pretty cool job... time team car hunting. I used to see tons of old cars on abandoned logging and mining roads here while mountain biking. The chrome bumpers with nearly 0 rust after 30 to 60 years amazed me.

That bridge definitely wasn't safe. Good choice with going through the water instead, you saved yourself a lot of troubles. Nice pics.

No, the bridge was perfectly safe, its maintained every year and is fine. Early in the season you have to use the bridge because there is too much runoff from the spring melt, whereas this late in the season there is so little water running there.
