I've had that happen to me in my '77. I had floored it in first, pushed in the clutch for second, and the pedal stayed on the floor. The noise scared the sh*t outta my girlfriend, but it was worth a good laugh.

Thats got to be one of the dumbest thing Ive seen today, riding on top of the engine+tranny while hooked up on a engine hoist. Oh well maybe Im just too cautious when it comes to safety.
A:
i hope u clean up that turbo motor, and paint the bad boy all nicely before you drop it in....

Driveway engine swaps. I'd really look forward to seeing that mess next door or across the street when I come out of my house.

eh... its all packed up during the night... one in the garage, the other with the hood back on, and just sittin high in the front ends!
they dont really care... no homeowners assn., no nothing. and the guys around us are all amazed that we do this stuff... so its pretty cool.
got the engine in the 260 painted and cleaned.. didnt get to pull the turbo motor, but only the tranny bolts are holding it back. we are gonna clean the hell out of the engine...its still the factory baby blue, so we are in debate what to do with it.
more pics in the morn!

I made a LOT of money with the "scrapyard engine blows"...
And to be honest, only twice was it a Nissan. A 1973 Kenmary Skyline with a G20 engine. That thing just zinged up there and boom! The EFI'd 77 Skyline pegged the tach as well, but didn't go as spectacularly.
Mostly they were Toyotas and Daihatsus. Lots of Toyotas...
On average we'd clear well over 150,000 yen per blow, 50% of the pot of 20-30 junkyard workers all putting in 10K yen to bet on when it will blow. Shite, we only got 5000 yen for the CAR, we made FAR more money blowing the engine before rolling it into the scrapyard that we ever did scrapping it.
Oh yeah, and on top of all that, the owners of the cars actually PAID us $50 to dispose of their vehicle and give them the LTO paperwork for Deregistration so they could clear the island!
I mean, it was WIN-WIN-WIN!
Trying to blow an engine without financial gain....that's just plain stupid. Against the rules of acquisition. There always must be a profit motive involved... Ferengis were the interstellar Republicans...
