I haven't post here in a long while now. I've been working on my LS1 swap and finally got it running. This is a C5 LS1 in a 77 280Z. Here is a vid

Nice video, that will be a MEAN car when you're all done. In the mean time... make sure to check that tire pressure ;)

Hey I like the C5 instrument panel and the DIC is all hooked up also.

Yeah I've been doing research on how to turn off those unwant messages. No luck yet. I guess to use the electrical tape to cover it up lol. When ever I want to read codes off it then peel off the tape then replace another piece after I am done. That's the cheapest fix lol.
Thanks

its fairly easy just have to learn the reset button in each of the program modes. i have a Z06 and can forward you instructions how to set up the DIC. Im pretty sure i have them .pdf file somewhere. which year inst panel is it exactly? i can see its a C5 DIC with tire pressure monitoring anyway, but i thought i saw some other codes also that need erasing as well.
You can set it not to display anything at all, but on startup depending on year of DIC it will go thru them all whether you want to see them or not.
Do you want it to display anything at all on it when driving?

Brian,
I have the C5 service manuals here. It does said that you can use those buttons to program stuffs in the IPC but it doesn't mention specific what can be turn off. I have a 98 C5 IPC. If you the direction specifically to turn off the tire mon system I would appreciate your help. I have not have time to work on my car since I got it running. I am putting it aside now and working on my friend's Z. I am putting in a 2001 Fbody LS1 motor into his 77 280Z also. Thanks again for your help.

ahhh, on 01 & older ls1 dic you cannot turn off the tire monitoring messages and readout (you can delete current mesasages but they will of course re-appear on startup each time). if it was a 01 & later you could edit it out using ls1 edit program.

You should also notice I didn't bother to clean my engine either. This is because I already plan to strip the whole car down once everything is done. I am still cutting up and modifying stuffs in the car. When I am done with all the modifications to the body/chasis I will strip it down and put it on the rotisserie. Re-enforce the frame then put the Cobra body kit on then paint. Then clean all the parts/engine before everything goes back in. You get the idea. hehe.
I am doing another LS1 swap for my friend's Z and I am painting the engine compartment before I put the motor in. This is because I am not going to strip that car down at all.
Brian,
I think I can just hook up the constant 12V to the IPC all the time. That way the message will not come back once I clear it. I think when I power up the PCM it will send message to the IPC thru the serial and this will put the IPC in the wake up state. This should work. I will try it tomorrow.
Thanks for the idea.

VinhZXT - So, how much did you get the whole C5 setup for ($$)? What else did you get besides engine/instrument gauge cluster/computer.
When do you plan to be done...?

Brian,
Good luck with your project. I look forward to see pictures of your project in the near future.
Boardkid,
I paid 5K for the C5 drivetrain with a bunch of other electronic stuffs. I had to do all the disassembly of everything I took. I got the BCM, PCM and IPC with all the wirings. I basically got all the wirings for the car. I had to go thru and cut out all the stuffs I didn't need. I have no plan when to finish this car. I just want to make sure when it's done it will be a show car. However I want to complete the brakes and temp exhaust so I can take it to the 1/4 mile track and see how it does. Hopefully I can get my towing dolleys register soon so I can tow my car to the track sometime next month.
