I was doing 84 in a 70 (I guess) and he gave me 75 in a 70. Good deal. Taught me a lesson I suppose!

I am actually surprised that he pulled you over if he was going to drop the ticket to 5 over.
were you staying out in the hammer lane? did you hit your brakes or something?
then again I did get pulled over because the deputy wanted a better look at my car, LOL.
If all were equal, none would be strong.

I got a ticket for going 80 in a 55mph construction zone in rush hour traffic. Which was impossible to do because of the traffic, I was in reality going 50 and slowing down for the traffic. The ticket came out as 60 in a 55 and no construction zone. I couldn't wiggle my way out of it in court.

Must be something in the air - tonight I received the first warning for speed ever. In the past, I've always been ticketed. I was driving an '02 T/A, and it accelarates so much easier on the highway than the zx, I had no clue I was going that fast. Anyways, I getting ready to ask all the necessary questions for the future court trial, but he just came back with a warning. What a relief...
I'm going to go try my luck in the parking lot here in a little bit -- I'll see if it holds.

I was recently radared going 140 in a 55 (in my Z06), didnt bother slowing when I went past him and actually stepped it up a bit, got away from him in 3 miles of twisties and into a crowded parking lot with 150 other vettes waiting for me. He pulled up next to us about 30 seconds later and just looked over wondering which one he was actually after. His look was priceless as he just sat there looking at me in a 2 minute staredown. Techically he didnt have his lights or siren on so I wasnt running from him. He was just trying to get close enough to me to get my plate (yea right, a Crown Vic dont handle very good in the twisties and know way in hell was he gonna catch up with me, and I knew he had no radio reception at that area it took place either otherwise there would have been another Johnny Law waiting at the summit for me). I then went into the restroom to check my shorts.
Moral of the story...if your over 100 better go gor it if the area permits as they are gonna tow you anyway for over 100 around here.
Radar detectors give you 2 options....You either have time to jam on the brakes or step on the gas and get the hell out of there.

I used to think the same way. Problem is say your going 120 in a 55, you get clocked and actually stop. You will get a hell of a ticket and probably taken in, but the charge is still just a traffic violation not a criminal charge.
The second you don't stop it becomes felony evading which is a criminal charge and may affect you a lot more down the road. Not you personally Brian cause you seem to have it made, but for a lot of the younger crowd whom has not made their money yet. Try getting a good paying job with Felony criminal charges on your record.
Oh and if you run here now, they take your car permantly. If you get away and drive a unique car it really sucks having to keep it hid, cause every cop in town know's it.
Just something to keep in mind
Matt

he didn't actually clock me, that's the thing. He lied through his teeth.

actually Matt, ive been driving like this since I was 16. I have no respect for cops now or then. nothing has changed in my last 34 years of driving to make me think any differently.
with the laws even stricter now for towing cars for over 100, street racing etc., i dont blame more people from running now days thAn ever before. states are finally raising their highway speed limits also as they see speeding is more widespread now than ever before and are finally giving in.
i have been pulled over for doing well in excess of 85 in 65's many times in various cars i own and have been let off with a warning because the posted speed limit sign on the freeway i was on said "speed limit 65" only and NOT "maximum speed limit 65". there is a difference when a sign says maximum or it doesnt and you can talk your way out of a ticket depending on traffic and weather conditions if the road you are on says only "speed limit 65" as that means the speed posted is not written in stone, rather a general speed depending on conditions and traffic. if one knows the laws and vc's you can talk your way out of a speeding ticket rather easily. sometimes i just choose the other option of not stopping.

That's when it's good to have a camera in your car.
I keep my old digital 1.5 mega pixel camera in my car for exactly this reason.
It has saved me in court on a couple of occasions.

That argument would never fly in Washington state (the reasoning doesn't stand up the RCW statutes).
A:
It stands up here in California and ive used it severa times to win tickets or talk my way out of them. I have too many friends that are ex cops and know all of the tricks and codes to spout out if pulled over. It states it in the current vehicle code as "Vehicle Code 22350 Basic Speed Law covers the speed that is safe for the conditions", and can be used in court to dismiss the ticket if conditions warrant the speed you were driving.
