I wouldn't suggest doing this way.
I was driving my 83 ZXT down Angeles Crest Hiway this morning and came around the final turn and there was a Sheriff right there. I looked at my speedo and was only doing about 50 in a 45 so I didn't panic and just went by him. But he pulled out and on came the lights. I told him I swear I was only doing 47 but he said he had me at 55 on the radar and I had no front license plate. He took my license went back and did a check on me and when he came back without a ticket in hand I knew I was going to get just a warning. Which he did and then he says, since he just gave me a warning would I mind talking about my car and that he has a 79ZX that won't go into gear and if I had any idea what could be wrong. I asked a few questions and suggested a few things and told him about my shop and gave him a card. He's coming by next week! A lot better than a ticket!

One of the reasons I left the last job I was working!
Consistently had me on night time call during holiday weekends, where inexperienced CHPs were puling hte night shift and were under orders for "enhanced enforcement" so really trippled the exposure to unrealistic "revenue enhancement" tax collectors...
I hate driving on weekends, and now I'm off to Oakland, driving, of course....

I used to get pulled over in my 1969 Chevy 1/2 ton stepside truck all teh time in high school. They would go thru the whole seatbelts, lights, and safety check, like I didn't already know I was going to be scoped out for that stuff. Then, they would want to talk about ny truck and how they always wanted to do one like mine with the nice paint and big HP engine blah, blah, blah. It was kind of a hassle after I while. I lived in a small farming town, so everytime a new county Sheriff would be out and see me it was the same thing.
I do miss that truck though...

Haha great story! I had a somewhat similar thing happen a few years back but I was going 20 miles over and he let me go!! Nice young cop in his 20's who said he really liked old Z cars!
