1966 Mercedes Benz 250SE
My friend, who knows Z’s now from mine & wrenches at MB dealer, sent me this. I had read somewhere about Nissan licensing some MB technology, maybe late 50’s? Interesting to see the carbs where they are ..

Take a look at the early FSM photos for the early Skylines, and hte Mercedes License and direct lineage is clearly apparent.
No doubt about it, the L-Engine is a Mercedes Derivative.

Prince motors bought a license to reproduce a Mercedes Benz engine. When Prince was gobbled up by Nissan Motor Corp in 1966 Nissan also received that license and was able to modify it into other engines... not just the L!
That is why they are very similar...

Yes, my neighbor had a '69 M/B with a similiar setup..I pointed out the similiarities to his M/B motor and my Z's...both vehicles Katrina victims........I think Blue pointed this similiarity out before.....

you can dress up L-series engine very nicely..just had to throw that in

i was off delivering parts at a shop once and i drove around the back to leave i see this strait 6 and i think wtf thats an L - back up it was a MB motor and i was like **** that looks exactly like it
