Frankenmuth Autofest

General Chat

Q:

I registered last week for the car show. It was only $15 to register and get my car into the show for all three days. Cars have to be 78 or older, so first gen Z's only. In all the years I have bene going to the show, I haven't found another Z car. It would be cool to have a few there this year. I will be there all three days with my project car. It's the primer/poop brown 240Z with the wife who looks less than thrilled to be seen with such a car...

"a classic is 25 years old"
Er, a classis is a lot more than simply being an old car.
A 1979 AMC Pacer is not a "Classic" as much as an "Old Curiosity"
Just because a car is old, doesn't make it a classic.
You want a car show you can enter, the JCCS car show in Long Beach is open to Japanese cars over 25 years old. They call it a "Japanese Classic Car Show" but when you look at a 1967 Toyota Corona, and a 1967 Toyota 2000GT, it becomes obvious which is the classic...

I think they do the age limit to keep the ricers and Camaro/Mustang guys out. It also keeps the number more manageble. They have over 2000 cars there, and don't have much more room for others. Imagine how many kids with Honda's would show up with their huge wings and bolt-ons to crowd out the real show cars. Mine isn't a show car yet, but it's on it's way.
Tony,
I worked at Zehnder's when I was in high school, I will NEVER eat chicken in Frankenmuth again....

Yea rarity plays a factor. I would rather see a 360 Modena at a show that was made last year over some trailer park 78 Trans Am, with a 403 cubic inch block only making 185 horses. Oh well.

I hate that place. Chrismas all year long is just wrong...

I agree, but my mother-in-law works there. I think it would drive me nuts to work at Bronner's. Christmas music all day all year... I would go postal...
I stay away from the usual tourist traps. The new brewery is really good though. I love a good German style dark beer. I think I'll have plenty that weekend.
