I have a parts car listed on one of the local classified ads here. I received an email with jumbled wording that immediately alerted me. I've read the scam on here several times, so I was prepared for it. I just wanted to pass the information on to all of you.
Here's my response first and the message afterward.
DO YOU THINK I'M STUPID??????? I may be an American, but I'm not stupid!!!! This is one of the oldest scams on the Internet. I WILL NOT SEND ANY MONEY VIA WESTERN UNION. I WILL NOT CASH THE MONEY ORDER IMMEDIATELY. If you truly want this car, you will send me a certified usps money order or via western union money order. Once I have VERIFIED this money order is valid, only then will I send any money to any outside company. This may take up to 7-10 days. ALSO, I HAVE RECORDED YOUR IP ADDRESS.
If you are truly legit, email me. Then I will send you my mailing address.

Western Union agent in your area. Deduct the Western Union charges from the balance and send the remaining immediately .
The Cashier Check or Money Order will be in your name to make it easier for you to receive payment, deduct your money and send the balance via Western Union as regards my earlier direction, please reconfirm your details one more time. I will give you the details of the Agent that you will send the balance of the money to once I get a reply and agreement that you will send the money via Western Union money transfer immediately you cash the Cashier Check or Money Order .
Once the money is received by the agent, the shipping agent will contact you immediately to arrange the documentation as well as the pick up immediately. So
in view of the above, here are some of the details I will need for final issuance of the Cashier Check or Money Order to you.

Do what someone else here did. Give the spammer the address to the nearest FBI office. Use the head honchos name there too.

When I was sellin gmy '74 Super Beetle last year, I got the same thing.
My standard reply:
No problem, I'll take your cashier's check for $4400.
Please supply a retainer of $4400 in cash for collateral to guarantee the cashier's check, and I will also require 2 weeks for the cashier's check to clear.
