Next is throwing more $$$ into the ole Z. Got hooked up with a body shop that is looking to get into the sport compact crowd. The shop specializes in custom SUV and Hummers. I examined their work and checked out their shop and all I can say is WOW. I have never seen a more state of the art shop. The shop owner and I are in negotiations to see if he can use the Z for a model to branch out. We are working out some details so who knows what next spring will bring.

Wow....Ive always considered a 240sx as next project car....would you suggest it? How hard is the SR20DET swaps? About how much for a basic modded sr20det?
A:

The S13 SR20DET swap is as close to plug and play as one can get. The hardest part was re-doing the SR electrical harness. You need both the KA harness and SR harness in order to create a harness for the car. After that its drop in with a bit of cutting for the IC pipes and intercooler. The first swap was a stock SR. We bought the S13 for around $2,500, paid $1,100 for a SR20DET that included the ECU and tranny. Throw in around $1,300.00 for clutch, flywheel etc and you have a real fun ride for around $5k.

what dose it run in the 1/4???
A:

Yeah it looks like a typical "ricer" with the can out the back. Funny though most imports around here don't challenge on the street. Its the domestic boys that love to push. Yesterday after cruising around just to get a feel of the car I was on my way home on the interstate and some 5.0 Mustang slinger decided to ride my ass as close as you could get without bumper kissing. I could see them pointing and laughing at the rear of the car. I slid it out of 5th into 4th to get the RPMs up a bit in order to slowly build speed and boost. They sensed I was going to go so the slid out in the next lane and I let them get to the rear quarter window before waving good bye. Next thing I know they are 7 car lengths back. Slowed down but they tucked in behind me at a respectable distance not laughing anymore. (I was)

Don't know what this years build will do. Last year at 18psi it ran 11s. The clutch would not hold at any boost past 18psi, so that is the best it could do. The local track shut down this year so we will have to go to KC when we get a chance to see what it will now do.
