Q:
I ordered the Ecliptech. My buddy has one on his Elise. Super nice unit. Fits nice. Bright lights.
I'm thinking the curved model would fit right over our gauge pod. Is that what he used?
Thanks,
Phil

TimMullen - you are right !
I learned something today thanks, after checking with the local Lotus guys the Toyota instrument pack has as Tim says, digtal feed so ya can't get the tacho signal from this. The fused igntion power and earth can come from this but you would have to run a single wire back to the ECU and pick up one of the ECU spark plug wires that fires the coil.
I'll hunt down a wire diagram and mark up the best place to take this from.
Tim you able to email me the relevant pages ?
The designer of the unit put the following picture togther to help with other systems. Jim's unit might be a good way of getting that signal back to the cockpit for other uses - datalogging units & shift-I of course.
Sorry for the confusion in the first post guys.
A:
ooops forgot - you can download the shift-I units different shapes in 1:1 scale from the website so you can see if it will fit.
Go to the installtion page to download the two different shapes - curved & straight.

Jim-Clayton, thanks for the MSD suggestion. May I ask where you sourced the switched 12 volts to the pickup?
A:
edit: Places to buy
I purchased mine new on Ebay for 35 plus shipping... There are several ebay stores that offer them. Along with Jegs, Summit, MSD, etc... You can even use google... I found out that it's a very easy part to find...
Best,
Phil
Edited: I'll read the question before I post next time

I tapped into the stereo wires. I added a remote barrier strip that included
multiple taps for ground, constant 12v+ and switched 12V+ (fused circuits)
I connect my radar det. , video, gps, all that junk.

you've got lots of sensory input with all that stuff!

Note: the document appears to be for A4 paper, not US letter-sized. So make sure to follow the instructions to print with no scaling and confirm the measurements afterward.

I would get used to the sound of the motor. A really good driver would know when to shift by the sound and timing.

I must be a bad driver.
I drag raced for years with no tach. Running on a road course is a little more "busy".
I like to short shift to save wear and tear.

That's a pretty broad statemnet isn't it ?
Is that why all of the:
F1 drivers , V8 super cars, Kart & Rally car drivers and most of the Nascar are fitting with LED shifts lights...........mmmm can't be really good drivers then ?
You should try driving an engine that has the same sound in rev's through the upper part of the range and has a very linear power delivery and see how you get on racing on a track when it's "busy"..........I thought I never hit the limiter until I datalogged a race and found I was regularly bouncing off it....not good for the engine at all......

Greetings from Scotland. I had been thinking about fitting the Shift-I to my Exige and stumbled on this thread. Just wondering if any of you have succesfully installed one yet - I'd be particularly interested to see where/how you connected the wire in the engine bay to pick up the RPM signal.
