microMIRROR installed

Interior Exterior

Q:
Hi guys,
I took advantage of Sector111's Thanksgiving sale and bought the mirror. I had always imagined that the mirror was small, but not *THIS* small. Hahaha. It's probably no wider than the width of my hand. Anyway, I just thought I'd fill you guys in on a secret. I had the hardtop installed with the headliner and I'm not sure if anyone had luck pulling the stock mirror off with this setup.
Keep in mind that I've never installed one before nor have I fumbled with the stock mirror in the past.
I knew I had a special BMW tool that unlocks the door handle trim so I found it and proceeded to the car. The tool looks like a flathead screwdriver with the tip bent at 90 degrees. "PERFECT!," I thought as I walked to the car. I would say that after getting into the car with the microMIRROR, BMW tool and 2mm allen in hand, I had the new mirror installed in about 1 - 2 minutes.
Too bad it snowed here...the car will be sleeping..

You didn't have to take the top of did you?

No, not necessary.

Nope. But with the hardtop's headliner installed, I can see it being even more difficult to get something in there to release the tab holding the stock mirror in place.

If possible, could you post a pic of what you see in the mirror? I'm just wondering how much of the possible view angle is visible with this little mirror.
PS Did you go for black or brushed?

I suggest you take the dimensions that have been posted elsewhere here, create a cut-out from paper, and tape it over your existing mirror and try it to see if you like it. Maybe someone could post a template (maybe in PDF) that we could print, cut out, and try.
