Q: What's behind that panel, anyway??

Interior Exterior

Q:
Answer: Stuff.
Was just being curious, looking for some usable space.. Figured I'd save y'all the trouble of getting out your screwdriver.
Cheers-
Johnny

Think I'll print out your picture and keep it in the car. I'll hand it to every person who tugs on the panel trying to open up the secret compartment, thinking it's some kind of glove box. This has happened almost every time someone takes a look inside...
A:
HEY, maybe THAT is where that screw i found rolling around the car came from!

Get a dummy button that says "eject".
A:
thats where i put all the wires from my radio install.
A:
There is a channel leading from under the radio to this spot...
A:
Becouse that's where the speakers go in the european car.

I know what was behind that panel in _my_ car. A horrible squeak. I killed it though. I drowned it in lithium grease.

Get a dummy button that says "eject". My brother did that on his car not long after the movie came out back in the '60s. There was an extra toggle switch on the dash, so he added a label. It used to be funny to watch people - they knew it was fake, and they'd reach out, but there was always a hesitation before they'd flip the switch...

What would be really funny would be to wire a squib to the switch so there was a little bang and some smoke. That'd make 'em jump out of the seat!

Think that would work on mice too??
A:
I opened that secret panel hoping for better access to the dash innards where I swore a loose screw was rolling around taunting me.
Then I looked down and saw the source: an acorn under the passenger footrest (it made a sound like loose screws in the dash, I swear!).
A:
Careful there -- those two small tabs on the cover panel break off really easily.

Found these behind my panel...........didnt have the guts to press either one of them !

Thats why I need an elise
I actually got one of the first few elises in the US, but sadly I pressed the self destruct, cause I thought it could not be real I found out the hard way. That is why I have been looking for an elise recently. And what is even worse is the insurence wont cover it, since they said it was damage I "intentionally inflicted" on the car So a word to the wise, don't try it, its not worth it to watch flames start to come from the engine, and smoke slowly fills the car as something in the dash starts to burn as well
So heed my words, don't press it, it is not a joke
Now on the other hand, I have no idea what the Panic button does So give it a shot, it can't be as bad as the self destruct

Reminds me of the sticker on the Esprit that 007 drove that said,"Burglar Protected"!

Think there is any way to create a lockable storage place out of that area?
It is hard to tell from the photo but could you possibly create a storage shelf behind the panel? Anyway to hinge it? It would be great if there was some conceled storage in the car for phone/ezpass etc.
A:
I keep my ez-pass mounted by the fuse box under the right nose panel...fires right thru the panel
fwiw

Didn't someone recently post that the alarm antenna connection was back in there somewhere also?
