Q:
Hey jack have they changed the big track it's been 10yrs since I've been there......My best time ever back in 1996 was a 117 in my RS200E.......
If we could setup a session without egos I'd give it a thought........
Hey by the way Tom knows his stuff ..thanks.....Frank
Frank,
Yes, Tom does know his stuff and he's a great guy to boot.
WS is the same old place. Unfortunately, you won't be turning 117's in the Elise.
Private track days are really small (few cars) and everyone is mature -- never any egos. Much safer than doing the canyons. I've even convinced a few of my Porsche buddies to get Elises after taking them for a track ride.
A:
Let me know when your putting a group together...now I here a canyon calling my name..
A:
Be RONIN
A:
No the angle is set...I'll be making an adjustible mount for it soon....Any were from 6-14 degrees all depends on the roads I drive . Some canyons max speed 45-90 others 25-125 in the strights.....It does have an effect..... and now I'll sit back and wait for you know who to say different....
Take care Ronin...
So, you are claiming benefits? Can you describe the basis for your claims?
A:
But why are you all showing wings that are low to the car's body work? Whose regulations are we playing to? If you are adding a wing to generate downforce and you are not seeking homologation why not run the wing as high as possible so as to remove any air disturbace created by the car. AND, it needs to be variable so that you can change the angle of attack as you drive corner to corner. Again, think Chapperal plus!

Cuz the wing-bling factor goes down? More height would also increase the useability of the rear view mirror.
BTW, here is a tall, strong, adjustable wing...
A:
No that's a wing mate!!!!!
A:
I can certainly see the increased downforce on that Plymouth's wing... but it seems unsafe for track use. Unless you can somehow strap him down.
A:
FWIW here are a few higher height Elise wings...they are supposed to be used @ ~ 10 degrees in conjunction with a front device and special rear diffuser :
Adjustable angle version:
340R:
Low wing:

Seat of the pants feeling .The rear end not to mention the whole car in general much less twitchy, after setting the car up to my satisfaction at speed... Adjustments to angle of attack will come as soon as I finish the new struts. From 6 to 14 degrees any more than that would be more of an air brake. The Benetec wing has a great foil shape in it very much the same as a well trimed sail. It's shape is designed for max lift. Used as a rear wing I feel it's shape is so far the most efficent for it's size that I've seen on the market to date.....But that is just my opinion ........I'm sure others will disagree......
As far as the rearview mirrior goes, I frankly don't care were I've been It's were I'm going that concerns me........I am Ronin......!!!!

You don't want him strapped down too tight otherwise you lose the 'active weight distribution' feature.

Here are some more pics of the fixed ReVerie wing; these are of KMS Elise's car. I didn't like this wing at first, but it has grown on me...
A:
"The ReVerie Lotus S2 adjustable rear wing has been specifically designed for fitment to the Lotus Elise S2, the wings profile is the work of a professional aerodynamicist active in the leading edge of motorsport whose target was to develop a rear wing offering improved down force, minimal drag whilst aesthetically complementing the form of the Elise S2."
Sounds interesting, like they understand the basics....the wing is to be set @ 8.5 degrees....with equal F/R ride heights...and the front element & special diffuser make a matched set to be used together. I'd guess that the least safe combo would be the front splitter by itself. Brett was supposed to post the info and specs on the stuff he sells, hope that is coming soon.
