Color for Brake Calipers

Interior Exterior

Q:
My car is Krypton green - Looking for some feedback on what color I should paint my calipers. I love the look of red ones but on this color car I just don't think it would work.
I am having my wheels done black so I am thinking of doing the calipers in krypton to match the car - I am also doing the engine covers, center console and HVAC surround done in krypton - that way I have a two color combo of krypton and black throughout the car. What you guys think?
A:
What does it take to make the paint high temperature resistant? I don't think you can use just regular paint without it blistering and such.
A:
yeah - I asked the service guys at Park Place about that - they add some additive or something - they said if it flakes they will fix it so I don't have much to lose.
A:
Krypton would prob be best, maybe yellow, whatever you do give up the pictures, my Exige is coming in KG. and I wanna paint mine different to.
A:
IMO the calipers on this car do not look that great painted. Perhaps if the surface was more smooth or you could use some filler. Most I have seen look a little rough, compared to factory painted calipers on cars from other marques.
But if you insist, Krypton would be a bit much, so I suggest black.
A:
I will get some pics up when its finished. Park Place had some issues getting the paint to match. Probably was a stupid question because I think I already have my mind made up on krypton.
Wish I had some photoshop skills to get an idea what it would look like...girls are only interested in guys with skills...

I was thinking about doing this with my Magnetic Elise. I was thinking red might be the way to go until a friend of mine suggested Lotus yellow. I still haven't made the decision yet. I'm also not sure if the engine covers would look good in magnetic. I guess I'll have to think about it for a while. I know I'll be doing the center console, but everything else is up in the air.
A:
Hey Bra,
If you do a search I think there is a few old posts of magnetic blue cars with painted calipers - pretty sure there was a post of a guy who did his engine covers in magnetic as well. With your color car I think either red or yellow would look great. Just try searching for painted calipers or engine covers.

If you need to use my skills Im pretty good with a bow staff, just ask Lafawndah

Holy crap! I hijacked my own thread with Napolean Dynamite quotes!

Ha Ha I helped

Personally I think the calipers are too small to paint a bright color to attract attention. The calipers are small because the car weighs less and giant calipers are not necessary. Larger/heavier rotors and calipers may actually improve braking but reduce handling. If you really must paint them, consider a light gold finish like they put on the gold series Brembo brakes on Ducati bikes. That might jazz them up without taking away from the car.
The console and AC mods should look good. Please post pics when you get it back.

Nice ! Silver and Gold......... U-2 would even like them. Don.
A:
Don I am glad you replied. ChrisB says you are/were doing a car with Krypton calipers. Any chance you got a photo?

How about Black w/Krypton LOTUS Lettering..
Just Thunkt about it..
Troy
A:
Yeah I thought about black but I am doing black wheels so I want them to stand out a bit - cant do the lettering on the rear..
"Take a look at what I'm wearing, people. You think anybody wants a roundhouse kick to the face while I'm wearing these bad boys? Forget about it."
A:
mine are yellow calipers with black lettering....they are TOUGH to clean....the wheel spokes are in the perfect position to keep your hands from cleaning them.
krypton will turn black before you know it.
i even tried to put some rejex on them after i first got them painted.
A:
I still like the gold. It should look good behind black wheels. I agree with J-son about the cleaning though.
