Interior Exterior
Q:
I commissioned APR to fabricate a CF front splitter for my Elise. Since they didn't have a template for the Elise, they used my car as the template.
A:
it looks good

That looks very nice. Did you go to them with any sketches, or did they come up with it? Since you financed it's development, do you retain the right to reproduce and sell units; or does that copyright belong to the manufacturer?
A:
Ok nice...
BUT
Have you tracked it yet? and if so, how does it perform?

Looks nice.
Is it completely flat?
Does it attach with the bolts that attach the clam to the frame?
Does it bend up when you contact obstacles (e.g., driveways)?
Thanks,
Joe

I gave them an outline trace of the front bumper and this is what they came up with.

I just installed it. I'll update its performance the next time I take it to the track.

It is completely flat, so there is a channel of air going through the middle. I'm working on a solution to obstruct this air channel. I used the 5 stock bolt locations and drilled two more holes under the license plate plinth to attach it to the bumper. Some super heavy duty double-sided tape was also used. I haven't had any scraping issues yet. Maybe because I'm still on stock suspensions and stock ride height.

How much will they sell them for?
A:
hmmmmm...it looks like undertray extension...
A:
Could they handle making this front diffuser extention part (as shown) you think? Could never get Red to give me a price.

I paid $325. I asked Peter, who was handling my order, if a group buy could be arranged. He said yes, depending on the number of orders.

You can contact them at their website:http://www.aprperformance.com/
A:
Which red is your car, it doesn't look ardent, so it must be canyon or chili.
A:
Any updates on this splitter?
A:
Yes what's up with this.... Im in!
A:
I also might be interested in a group buy. I've seen APR splitters on a couple of Evo's and was impressed with the quality.
The advantage to this one seems to be that it has less of a decrease in clearance (although that might not be the case for the approach angle since it also sticks out a bit more).

Sorry for the lack of updates - I've been swamped at the office.
So far the splitter has seen alot of miles on canyon runs (no track time, yet). The front end feels more "planted" while turning at speed and I encounter less understeer. Keep in mind that I have stock LTS wheels and suspension.
I don't have any scraping issues while driving around on the street, but I do take it easy on those steep-angled driveways.
Install tips:
Since I used the stock bolt locations to mount the splitter, there are the two bolt locations that used that black plastic thingy pictured on the left. They don't hold very well and I replaced them w/ some drywall anchors along w/ the stock metal washer. These are holding just fine.
You will also need to get some nylon spacers (I painted them black) and #10 washers to mount between the splitter and the clam.
Regarding the group buy, I'm too busy right now to set anything up personally. However, if anyone can step up and speak to Peter at http://www.aprperformance.com and set up a group buy for you guys - that would be great.
A:
is it possible to get them without the logo?
A:
Lotus is not listed on the site
A:
Lotus is not listed on the site because it was a special order. You will need to contact them.
A:
This is a terrible idea! Lotus designed this car and bolting on aero bits is like putting ice in a glass of wine!!! Just kidding. I'm amazed it took this long for someone to do this.

I am interested in a group buy... someone take up the project.
Perhaps 10 of us can get on board...
I am too busy personally, or I'd do it. I have several trips and a big convention coming up in less than 30 days...
