Cleaning Inside Headlight Covers

Interior Exterior

Q:
Anyone have any tricks for cleaning inside the headlight covers? Getting through those 2 holes to clean the inside is a bitch. Especially the top.
A:
FWIW I cleaned mine when doing my headlight alignment last year. With the covers off I mixed a small amount of dishwasher detergent with hot water and mixed it until the powder was completely dissolved. Poured some in through the holes. Covered the holes with my hands and shook it for a while. Emptied the contents and flushed with clean water. Left to dry. I had tried to rub the inside of one assembly and this left some very fine scratches so I didn't touch the inside of the other. After they dried all of the fogging was gone, they were nice and clear.

You didn't get any water marks when the water dried? You must have good water. Do you have a water softener?
A:
You could try using distilled water?

I did the same thing with mine except that I dried/Blew them out with my air compressor to avoid water spots.
