removing paint from starshield?

Interior Exterior

Q:
I have some small splatters of blue paint on my starshield. no idea what it is or where it came from. any ideas how I can remove this without harming the film?
A:
Folks have used Turtle Wax bug and tar remover on the Starshield film for bugs without incident. I'd start off with that. It looks to be turpentine mixed with some compound slurry. But it shouldn't hurt the shield.
I've used tar/gum/wax remover on Invincashield 3M coatings without issues. I don't know whether or not it's diluted, so stick with an auto grade product as opposed to straight turpentine. Wash the cleaned spot off when you're done.

I've used brake cleaner (sprayed on a rag, then wiped gently on the surface) to get rid of stuff like this in the past.

I'd try some paint thinner (carefully first in a small area) as it shouldn't harm the film. I've used liberal amounts of tar remover and polish for cone marks and the film seems perfectly happy with the abuse.
