Interior Exterior
Q:
Pig I think I am getting a better understanding of the paint condition / paint repair matter.
Is this following true?
1) You take delivery of the car after a cursory inspection under poor conditions (rain on car) assuming all is well and with no request to inspect the car indoors.
2) You get home and discover major, major paint problems. Utterly unacceptable paint.
3) You inform the selling dealer. You do not disclose their suggestions to us. You do not return the car to them and ask for your money back.
4) You spend the equivalent of several thousand dollars fixing the paint.
5) Lotus / Dealer then cannot verify (2) above. They have no chance to see what happened and try to resolve it at their expense. They cannot confirm the problem.
6) Lotus offers an oil change as a gesture of goodwill.
7) You post that Lotus Elise cars have awful paint jobs and that Lotus does not stand behind their paint.
8) When confronted, you now want to change the subject and go to PM.
Is this about right?

"Pig I think I am getting a better understanding of the paint condition / paint repair matter."
"Is this following true?"
Not entirely!
"1) You take delivery of the car after a cursory inspection under poor conditions (rain on car) assuming all is well and with no request to inspect the car indoors."
YES!
"2) You get home and discover major, major paint problems. Utterly unacceptable paint."
YES!
"3) You inform the selling dealer. You do not disclose their suggestions to us. You do not return the car to them and ask for your money back."
NO! The details have been disclosed on another thread. Seems stupid to keep repeating myself hence the PM. But basically their explanation was that Lotus sent the car to them that way and I needed to complain to Lotus about it instead of them. Which I did.
"4) You spend the equivalent of several thousand dollars fixing the paint."
Maybe! I don't honestly know what a body shop would have charged to do what I'm doing. I'm sure it would not be cheap.
"5) Lotus / Dealer then cannot verify (2) above. They have no chance to see what happened and try to resolve it at their expense. They cannot confirm the problem."
NO! The Dealer did verify the paint problem and said that it was the way the car was sent to them by Lotus. "Lotus' fault, not theirs".
"6) Lotus offers an oil change as a gesture of goodwill."
No! The dealer offered the oil change. I haven't heard anything from Lotus since my initial contact with them.
"7) You post that Lotus Elise cars have awful paint jobs and that Lotus does not stand behind their paint."
YES! Because in my case that most certainly did happen. I can't speak for others, just myself.
"8) When confronted, you now want to change the subject and go to PM."
NO! Subject has not changed at all. I just thought you might want to have little more info before you jump to conclusions.
I'm assuming you must work for Lotus in some capacity to be defending them on something you know little about. I've been as up front and honest as I can be about this. Yet in the end, it's still my problem!
Obviously, you've never had something like this happen to you. But unfortunately it does happen to some people sometime. I never said this is the norm for Lotus. But this is the only experience I've had with them and so far it's been frustrating to say the least. I can only hope that because of my complaints to Lotus other people won't have to go thru what I've gone thru to correct these problems.

This is my first post here and probably my last. Who the hell does this Stan guy think he is? This is the only thread I've found that has shut up Stan's annoying comments. I've been reading these forums for quite sometime now. I've seen harassing post after post on this forum by Stan mostly about nitpickin' crap like what he's posted above. I'm not saying all of his posts are BS, because some are very informative. It just seems to me like he likes to start crap with people on topics he knows little about. There is another one going on right now over here as well: http://elisetalk.com/forums/showthre...9&page=3&pp=20 Just search around you'll find it everywhere. Sometimes he sounds like a 16 year old kid and other times he sounds somewhat intelligent. But a lot of the time he just seems to come across like an A**hole! That's my two cents!
By the way pig, my paint job sucked too. Swirl marks and buffer burns were everywhere and neither the dealership nor Lotus would fix it. They said it was not covered under warranty. So I feel your pain and I'm sure it sucks when someone like Stan (who must live in a perfect world) likes to rub salt on open wounds of others rather than being helpful and supportive.

We know who he is, we don't know who you are. He contributes to this forum and you just lurk around not contributing a thing.

How does a post like yours make you helpfull and supportive?
I guess you had something to drink or are pissed at something else, but this kind of troll like comment wont reflect good on you. Come to think of it, you could be a regular member using an alias, and if you have read the forum rules, personal attacks are a

I'm in the process of selling my Elise. It's been nothing but a pain in the a**. Hence, no need for future posts. You can find me on the Lambo forum for future reference. Just bought a new Gallardo.
By the way, my post wasn't meant to be helpful. Just don't care much for BS no matter where it comes from. Have a nice day

John1 I believe your comments are unnecessary and unappreciated. I believe my issues were very clearly explained. This thread is old/dead and I don't see it going anywhere further. Stan has made significant and informative contributions to this forum.
