Elise RHD to LHD conversion

Interior Exterior

Q:
Hi everybody
I am a newbie both to the forum and to the Lotus world too so forgive me if I am asking bad questions...
I have wanted an Elise for a long time and now I am having a closer look at it.
I am based in the UK but only for a couple years, after which I plan to move back to continental Europe. Therefore I am considering buying a RHD elise here in Britain and do a LHD conversion later.
So my questions are the following:
What are the parts I need to replace, how difficult will it be to get them and what are the technical issues I will face when doing the conversion?
At the moment I have identified the following:
- Dashboard replacement
- Steering rack replacement
- Electric wiring extension or replacement?
- Moving passenger feet holder (aluminium thing)
I'll be more than happy to get your views, experience and comments on that

Why bother converting it to LHD? I have on RHD drive car at the moment and have had another one in the past, and I haven't experienced any problems driving them in the US other than being in the wrong place at drive-up windows.

Hi, I have been driving a LHD car in the UK for the past 4 years and although I got used to it I still find it inconvenient and in some cases dangerous. Did you say stubborn?

It would be far easier to simply sell your RHD and buy a used LHD when you move. It will also probably be cheaper than a conversion.

It probably would be easier to sell the car when I leave the UK, however the used car market here is significantly cheaper than in continental europe, as it's a closed market (they can only sell their RHD cars within the UK) and additionally Elise are almost common on British roads, while they are very rare (i.e. expensive) in continental Europe. Typically a british used elise costs 2/3rd of her french equivalent.
For all these reasons, I believe that doing a RHD to LHD conversion (myself) would be worth it.
Anyone could help me identify which parts have to be replaced?
Thanks
