Q:
anyone else have quality issues with the sector 111 mirror?
the first one i received had a mirror refraction/ripple defect in the reflective backing, the replacement had a chip in the glass, and the replacement for the replacement had a refraction/ripple defect as well as a glass chip. sector 111 would not send me another one despite my stated preference to give the product one more chance.
if it were a $40 mirror i would not care but for $110 it should be perfect. imho, the build quality on this item could use improvement.
my 2 cents.
Bought the brushed aluminum model when it first became available. The ball socket was incredibly tight - should have returned it immediately, but didn't.
Requested a replacement (after an unfortunate incident which I will relate at a later date) and it came with chips in the aluminum finish below the glass.
Requested another replacement and it seems fine, although the ball socket does not have the freedom of movement of the second mirror that I received.
There do seem to be quality control issues with these mirrors. But the small size seems more desirable than the overly large stock mirror, which blocks my view of the road when turning quickly towards the right.
Sector 111 was very nice about replacing the mirrors until I was satisfied. But I have to agree that I expected better quality for the price. However, I don't have much experience with aftermarket parts, so perhaps this is to be expected.

We sent you 3 different microMIRRORs. Each of which you rejected. I believe we tried our best to meet your needs. Sorry if three attempts was not enough.

Shinoo, go back to sleep !! ( it's 5 am there ) no use losing sleep over this !!! haha

I found the sector111 mirror to be perfect for my needs and I love the look. It took me less than 5 minutes to remove the old mirror and install the new one. No complaints here!

My Sector111 Micro Mirror is perfect and it was the first one they sent me
As for the day night issue I don't have a problem because it is so small that you can just move your head a bit if some lights are bothering you then put your foot down
As for the 4" mirror covering the whole view out behind the head rests. I was able to see both sides of a 6 lane freeway in the mirror yesterday I was also able to use it to see if one of Huntington Beach's finest was going to flip a u-turn and come chat with me after I pasted him at speed

That is a great point, it does fit the styling of the Elise, it looks like it belongs rather than being an aftermarket part

I'm thinking there must be a way to make a mirror that is very wide and only an inch or so high......it would attach using the holes that remain after removing the sun visors....you would be able to tilt it up and down......

Same reason everyone talks about mirrors.....to see what's behind you, while blocking a minimum amount of windshield.....
A:
So you can do your makeup?
You don't need makeup when you drive an Elise..... no one is looking at the driver.

I think the aluminum micro mirror looks like it was made for the car. It blends so perfectly with the cars interior and styling.
I'm one that disagrees with that. The oval mirror would look just great in a Model A hot rod, but it doesn't match the Elise. The mirror looks like a (fairly) common "billet" mirror available for hot rodders, but they also make a similar mirror in a rectangular shape. I could easily get a mirror that would work, but the mounting bracket is unique, and I can't find a source for one. I think one of the rectangular mirrors would look great - I wish that it was available with a choice of oval or rectangle shape, in which case I would seriously consider buying a rectangular "micro mirror".

I'm with you...I'm not a fan of the oval. I want a skinny rectangle.

shinoo,
thank you very much for your call today. it is refreshing to see the value that sector 111 places on customer service and its reputation in the lotus community.
as we discussed, there were some build quality issues with the 3 mirrors i received previously. that said, i sincerely appreciate your willingness to send me another one to try and make it right. i look forward to receiving the replacement mirror as well as the rear lotus badge.
thank you again.

there is barely a straight line on the exterier contours of our Elise, so I think that an oval shaped mirror complements these feminine curves well.
I located some 6" ovals (below) but not sure if any can be made to fit the stock mount:

I am still deciding between sector111 and other models ...

Howdy,
I called to order Peck's mirror with no luck. No more left in stock and not available any longer.
Best regards,

Great find. This is a better deal than the Sector111 mirror

I've been driving without a rearview mirror for the past few weeks. I wouldn't recommend it, as you have a harder time monitoring the traffic just behind you, but it is possible. But it really opens up the windshield view.
I considered mounting my new mirror on the dash to retain this open view line, but the mirror turns out to be positioned too low to give an adequate view of the road behind you.
When my little saga finally is resolved, I will have an interesting story to tell.
